Californians have voted to use ranked choice voting in local governments collectively representing more than one million people. #AB2808 would ban RCV and override the ability of local voters to adopt pro-democracy reforms. @AssemblySeyarto please vote No on #AB2808.

With #RankedChoiceVoting, you can vote for your favorite candidate AND have backup choices! This reform gives voters a stronger voice in elections 📣

It’s no secret that political campaigns are divisive, in a game of which base can get the higher turnout. #RankedChoiceVoting can lead to positive, issues-driven campaigns where candidates all seek to represent you, the voter, and not just their narrow base.

A great, in-depth podcast on proportional representation from our coalition partner @CA4ElecReform's co-president Steve Chessin just dropped! Lots of history about multi-winner #RCV + explanations of how various approaches to PR work. bit.ly/3sR8AUP

Proud to be a part of this movement!
We just had more than 150 people come together, committed to expanding #RankedChoiceVoting across California. We are at the start of something BIG.

What's the deal with #RankedChoiceVoting? You get to vote for the politician you really like the best without spoiling the chances for the major party candidate that you dislike somewhat less than the other one.

#RankedChoiceVoting: the voting system where candidates care both about the breadth and intensity of their appeal. This way, they can't just cater to their base, nor concentrate on just being likable instead of on the policies they plan to enact.

To truly fix the gerrymandering problem, we need to move away from winner-take-all.
The more I dig into the literature on gerrymandering and districting, the clearer it becomes that single-member districts are really, really bad for fairness. So many problems and trade-offs would be solved or vanish with multi-member, proportional districts.

#ProportionalRepresentation (i.e., multi-seat districts) is more inclusive and solves gerrymandering.

Replying to @Reuters
Independent commissions for drawing districts is a band-aid on a gushing wound. The root cause is winner-take-all where 51% of the vote can be turned into 100% of the seats. The real solution is fairly awarding them only 51% of the seats with #ProportionalRepresentation.

Most Americans want a multi-party system, and we need #RankedChoiceVoting and particularly #ProportionalRepresentation to get there. news.gallup.com/poll/329639/…
