@CABO_science acquired imaging spectroscopy data over @SblUdem and we are collecting foliage using @DeLeavesDrone over the next 2 weeks to map canopy chemistry and tree species.
CABO members Anna Schweiger and @etnlalib publish this study today using @NEON_sci data from the US showing how imaging spectroscopy can be used to monitor plant biodiversity. CABO is currently developing other similar approaches using data we collected across Canada.
Anna Schweiger and @etnlalib show, using @NEON_sci data, that spectral diversity measured from the air captures plant beta diversity in US biomes ranging from tundra to forests. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

Back on Twitter after a long absence. I have 2 PhD student positions for 2020. Please pass along tinyurl.com/UWTownsend2020
MSc student Rosalie Beauchamp-Rioux from @traitlab @CABO_science is at #AGU19 to show how foliar spectra distinguish tree species throughout the growing season, even across sites that differ strongly in their soil properties.
