How are bat populations doing in the UK?
A @_BCT_ report on UK’s bat species, published earlier this year, shows nature can recover, given the right opportunity. But there are worrying signs of change which we need more data to understand: bats.org.uk/news/2024/05/nbm…

Great to hear @thenewgalaxy on @LBCNews just now, talking about how, after years of searching, he refound the elusive #GhostOrchid (previous UK sighting was in 2009)!
Look forward to hearing him on @bbcradio4 The World Tonight & then here on catch-up: bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0022c4…
I’m talking to @LBCNews in about 15 minutes and @BBCRadio4 at about 2230 tonight about the Ghost Orchid (Epipogium aphyllum) that I found growing here in the UK earlier this month #wildflowerhour

What do people think about @BrambleBotanist's suggestion?
Seeking views on a campaign to eliminate the words ‘common’ & ‘weed’ from official names in GB flora. I think they’re unhelpful & increasingly inaccurate. I dislike using them. We’ve plenty of other traditional names to choose from in many cases. ‘Weed’ could = ‘wort’ @BSBIbotany
