Concerning the Christian and the Vote: No doubt we are waiting for our King to return (Revelation 22:20). Yet, has He not set us as stewards over His house until He does (Luke 12:42–44)? When He tallies our reward, what do you suppose will be the measure? Is it not how we kept His house (Matthew 25:21)? What of the rewards themselves? Are we not future kings (Revelation 5:10)? Are not kings, as Christ demonstrated, to rule through servitude (Mark 10:45)? Is our reward not determined based on our services rendered (Matthew 25:21)? Were we not promised cities—to rule them with rods of iron (Luke 19:17; Revelation 2:27)? Until such a time, how can a future king, in a twenty-first-century Western democracy, do an act of servitude for his people? What small but measurable service can be rendered? A vote is not the disregard for the coming Kingdom. It is not an act of rebellion against Bible prophecy. Nor is it presumptuous. To vote is to render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s (Matthew 22:21). A vote is a small step in a long march toward kingship.
