Bernie Wong was a trailblazer who spent her life advocating for Asian Americans and immigrant communities in Chicago and across the U.S. Her legacy of community leadership inspired me and so many others, and her impact will be felt for generations to come. chicago.suntimes.com/2021/4/…

Every community would greatly benefit from having an indefatigable force for good like my dear friend, Bernie Wong. A true champion for change! R.I.P. 🙏🏽
“Ms. Wong personified the type of person Pres. @BarackObama had in mind when he created the ‘champions of change’ award, @ValerieJarrett said, praising her as an “indefatigable force for good.” @MarkBrownCST @Suntimes

I was saddened to learn about the passing of Bernie Wong. She was a trailblazer for Chicago’s Chinese community and beyond who made a big difference in AAPI representation—especially in Illinois government. My thoughts are with her family and loved ones. She will be missed.
