A strong decision by the U.S. State Department – authorizing Ukraine’s purchase of Patriot interceptors to counter Russian ballistic missiles. Five hundred PAC-3 interceptors is a substantial number, and very soon – this winter – they COULD make for a highly effective defense package. However, it has been stipulated that deliveries may begin ONLY IN A FEW YEARS. We are asking our American partners to find a solution for the time when there is a real danger and a real need to use PAC-3 interceptors. Right now, the Russians are attacking our energy infrastructure every single day. In just these past two weeks of October, there have already been more than 30 Russian strikes on critical parts of our power grid. It is right now, even before the beginning of winter, that Putin has started carrying out his operation to attack the systems that sustain life in our cities and communities. The targets are electricity, heating, water supplies, bridges, and life in our cities in general. We did ask our American partners to provide Ukraine with a winter support package – at a rate of 100 Patriot interceptors per month. Five hundred missiles would be enough to protect our skies over the coming months – precisely when it is so important for Ukraine to be in a strong position in negotiations and for Russia NOT to succeed in breaking life in Ukrainian cities and communities. The United States, our European partners, and other partners around the world have sufficient stocks of PAC-3 interceptors in their warehouses. Providing them to Ukraine right now – in the winter of 2026–2027 – and replenishing our partners’ arsenals LATER, in THE FOLLOWING YEARS, through this production already contracted and paid for by Ukraine and our partners would be the right approach. And it is entirely feasible. We are grateful to President Trump. Importantly, we recently discussed PAC-3 interceptors with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Ukraine is grateful to the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Administration overall for granting this authorization. But we are asking for decisions that can guarantee the protection of lives not the day after tomorrow or sometime later, but at the very moment the threat is there – when Russia is killing and destroying. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine! state.gov/releases/bureau-of…

🚨 BREAKING: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent dismissed questions about the Trump administration paying $496 MILLION for a shuttered Minnesota prison that private contractor CoreCivic had previously offered the state for just $75 MILLION, a staggering $420 million difference. Asked to explain the purchase amid the administration’s crackdown on government waste and fraud, Bessent responded: “I don’t know anything about that. That’s a waste of our time.”

Flávio Bolsonaro is not a persecuted political leader; he is under criminal investigation for serious corruption. He should have his visa revoked and return to Brazil to face justice. If Trump doesn’t want criminals to come to the U.S., why allow Bolsonaro entry? We need answers.

Judge Ana Reyes has officially run out of fucks to give when it comes to the Trump administration’s word games. And she let them have it. When DOJ’s No. 3 official tried to argue over what Trump meant when he publicly announced the golf course would close November 15, Reyes wasn’t having it. Woodward told her he couldn’t say that Trump meant the course would close on Nov. 15, and even tried to claim the post said “should” be closed. Reyes pointed out it said “will be.” “We played games on October 19th with words, and we’re not doing it today.” When the lawyer tried to claim executive privilege over Trump’s PUBLIC social media posts? “That’s quite an extraordinary view of executive privilege.” She even pulled out a dictionary to explain the meaning of “involved” when officials couldn’t answer whether Interior Secretary Doug Burgum was involved in the project. When the official then said Burgum was only “aware” of the project, Reyes noted he had toured the course and asked, “He doesn’t have a body double, does he?” And when the administration’s explanations kept changing? She reminded them of their duty of candor to the court. When Woodward revealed that a submission to the National Capital Planning Commission on the course design had been in the works for weeks without DOJ telling her, she said, “Are you kidding me right now? Seriously, Mr. Woodward, come on.” Now she’s appointing a special master to investigate whether Trump administration officials misled the court. The investigation begins in days. “For months the court has trusted but not verified,” Reyes said. “No longer.” This isn’t just about a golf course anymore. It’s about whether the executive branch thinks it can mislead a federal court, change its story, and hide behind word games when a judge demands answers. Remember how we got here. The administration cut down more than 400 trees at the course in a single weekend, after Reyes had ordered them to give notice before removing more than 10. Trump called her a “crazed lunatic” on Truth Social. DOJ’s Woodward filed to have her removed from the case, and she denied it. She told the courtroom that “a federal judge is getting death threats over a golf course.” And the DOJ let slip in court that a new seawall at the park would cost between $150 million and $400 million in taxpayer money. Judge Reyes has taken the DOJ to the “Finding Out” phase. And she’s bringing both barrels.

Economist (and Nobel laureate) Paul Krugman: “Control of Starlink must, one way or another, be taken away from Elon Musk. We have a loved one scheduled to be on this flight. He will be killed if he’s returned to the Taliban. He supported the US mission in Afghanistan. He has broken no laws. He came here legally. Seeking asylum should not be a death sentence.

This World Series photo is one of the best sports photos I have ever seen, but the process behind how it was captured might be even more interesting. No, it wasn't done with AI or a drone. Here's what you need to know... Mike Carlson and Carmen Mandato took this photo, and Carlson broke down the process on Instagram. He says they go up on the catwalk before games to install a series of cameras mounted in different positions — looking at home plate, the mound, etc. But since photographers can't sit on the catwalk during games (and also have to take other photos), Carlson and Mandato install a trigger to help take photos remotely. The way it works is simple: When Carlson and Mandato take photos with their handheld camera in the outfield, the catwalk camera also takes a photo. The catwalk camera is also connected to a network, so it automatically sends the photo to an editor. This is similar to the process NBA photographers use to get those popular "spotlight effect" photos. But instead of mounting their camera on a catwalk in the arena, NBA photographers use a trigger to activate the strobe lights most NBA arenas have installed in the rafters. Most people never notice the strobe light going off, but once you do, you'll notice it every time. Super interesting.

A private prison company offered Minnesota an empty prison for 75 million dollars. The state said no. Then Trump’s administration paid the same company almost 500 million for it. The prison has sat empty in Appleton, Minnesota since 2010. Last year CoreCivic emailed the state and offered to sell it for 75 million, upgrades included. Minnesota passed. Fifteen months later, Homeland Security bought it for an ICE detention center at 495.6 million. How could this be? You guessed it. CoreCivic gave half a million dollars to Trump’s inaugural committee. And it still gets paid about 75 million a year to run the place. Republicans love talking about fraud in Minnesota. JD Vance says his task force is all over it. So where are they on this one? I break it all down in today’s show (link in reply).
