By 12:00 PM, 2.3 million Israelis had already exercised their democratic right to vote - a 31.5% turnout, the highest in 53 years! 🇮🇱
Across more than 12,000 polling stations, Israeli society is showcasing the beauty of true democracy🗳️
Today Israel goes to the polls in a pivotal election.
With turnout typically around 70%, Israel’s elections reflect a deeply engaged electorate. Arab citizens account for 18% of eligible voters, with Arab parties projected to win up to 15 of the Knesset’s 120 seats.
This election carries extra weight as the first since the October 7 atrocities, with Netanyahu’s wartime leadership under scrutiny. Neither his coalition nor the opposition bloc is projected to secure a majority.
Exit polls are expected tonight, but forming a government could take weeks.

Today, Israel goes to the polls.
As with every election, it is a day of ideas and ideologies, of debate and last-minute efforts to persuade voters.
Above all, it is a day for Israel’s citizens to exercise their democratic freedom and choose their country’s leadership.
Jews and Arabs, Muslims, Christians, Druze, Circassians and Bahá’ís will go to the polls and vote as they wish.
This is the beauty of Israeli democracy.
In two days, Israelis will go to the polls once again. It is a process we know well: we have held five general elections in the past ten years.
Yet familiarity does not diminish the importance of this moment. Every election is an opportunity for our citizens to make their voices heard and determine the country’s future.
Throughout Israel’s history, we have faced extraordinary challenges. The past few years have tested us profoundly. Through it all, our democratic process remains a powerful expression of our resilience, our diversity and our determination to shape our own destiny.
To those following these elections in the UK, thank you for your interest in our democracy. It is spirited, fiercely debated and sometimes complicated. It is also something magnificent, and something we Israelis are deeply proud of.

Don’t expect a government on the night.
The President will ask the MK best placed to command 61 seats to form a coalition. They have up to 6 weeks, including a 2 week extension.

Glad to have signed this. Will @RedbridgeGreens have the decency to publicly reject their party's abhorrent motion?
Over 500 Conservative councillors have signed our open letter calling on Green councillors to stand up for British Jewish residents.
The Green Party has declared “Zionism to be racism”. Zack Polanski didn’t stay to vote against it. And yesterday, he told Laura Kuenssberg he wouldn’t overturn it: “I don’t think this is actually controversial.”
We’re asking Green councillors to disavow the motion, challenge antisemitism and reassure Jewish residents they’ll be represented without prejudice.
Silence is a choice.

I am proud to have signed this open letter and stand in solidarity with British Jewish residents to support efforts to tackle anti-Semitism.
We all have a responsibility to challenge prejudice wherever it occurs. Racism in all its forms has no place in our society!
