#Bears Coaching Update
Chicago Bears Linebackers Coach Richard Smith (Health) will not travel with the team to Seattle and will not coach in Monday night’s game against the Seahawks.
Assistant Linebackers Coach Kevin Koch will serve as Smith’s replacement and handle all Linebackers Coach responsibilities.
Looks like bad news for #Seahawks fans who were still holding out hope Schneider would make another run at Crosby
Unlike last year, when Maxx Crosby openly wondered about his future in Las Vegas, this year he doesn’t want to go anywhere and the Raiders currently have no plans of trading him, according to league sources.

#Seahawks no longer mentioned among interested teams. So either they were included erroneously yesterday or were never that seriously into Taylor.
The #Colts are having active discussions centered around star RB Jonathan Taylor, as the team is now open to dealing him.

Zach Charbonnet is back, but fans should expect a long ramp until he is back to his old form.
Most backs returning from an ACL need 8 games before they perform to their previous levels.
Another reason Seattle may still add to the RB room.
The way Mike talked here makes me think Price might potentially be part of Jonathan Taylor trade discussions ...
Mike Macdonald on #Seahawks RBs Jadarian Price, full go practicing but not yet added to active roster off injured reserve, and Zach Charbonnet: “We have a plan for Zach. And with JD, if we were to make a move, that would happen on Monday (game day vs CHI), to my knowledge. We’ll see if that’s what we do. We have some things going on roster wise that we’re working through right now, but we have a plan for Zach.”

"We've played with more than 5 offensive linemen a bunch of times. There's going to be ways to keep Anthony [Bradford] involved."

The TEs got more involved vs the Chiefs. Was that the intent, or just the way it worked out?
"There's been a deliberate approach to try and get everybody a little bit more involved."

Interesting from offensive coordinator Brian Fleury: Says reason he, Sam Darnold, the offense have scaled down the plays/focus in the game plan is he reminded himself these #Seahawks are not like his 49ers years, where SF personnel were/are steeped in the Shanahan system for years. “I am used to carrying a lot of volume.”
Says he had to remind himself “we’re all kind of new to this” here in Seattle
So: Scale back the volume.

Ben Johnson is going for it on fourth down even more than Dan Campbell, with the Bears going for it on fourth down an NFL-high 17 times this season. nbcsports.com/nfl/profootbal…

Caleb Williams has killed 2-high looks. You play a lot of 2-high. You typically stick with what you do in these situations. How did you get to that philosophy versus optimizing for your opponent?
"I've lived that life before and you're playing a different defense every week. Got some scars on that front."

Think the Seahawks may try and challenge the Bears outside CB’s Monday night?

Side note: Emmanwori has been everything for Macdonald that Adams was expected to be for Carroll.
The #Seahawks are big examples. They lost the Jamal Adams trade. But they have been the winners a couple of times, setting up Super Bowl runs with the two first-rounders they got for both Joey Galloway and Russell Wilson (who were not worth it for Dallas and Denver).

And then I've got a second column on the Jeffery Simmons trade. Teams trading two first-round picks for established veterans in the modern era are batting about 25%. Why haven't those trades lived up to expectations? And can Simmons be the exception?

#Bears GM Ryan Poles, on trading for Jeffery Simmons, says that going back to 2018, every Super Bowl champion has had a high-level DT—and believes that’s vital for a team that wants to win it all.

How is John Schneider so good at making this in-season deals?
"It's cool to feel like the GM is in your corner. You can feel like sometimes, in season, it's the coaches time and draft season it's the GM's time. We feel like everybody is in this thing together."

Ryan Poles on Jeffery Simmons: "We are excited to welcome Jeffery Simmons and his family to Chicago. We extend our gratitude to the Tennessee Titans and Mike Borgonzi for their partnership and collaboration throughout this process. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to add a player, and a human, like Jeffery to our team, and we look forward to Jeffery's leadership and command as we continue to work toward sustained success."
Ben Johnson on Jeffery Simmons: "Jeffery is one of the most respected players in the National Football League. Jeffery has proven to be one of the most impactful run defenders and disruptive pass-rushers in the NFL, and yet, through his leadership, Jeffery will have the opportunity to create a positive impact across our entire team. We look forward to the work ahead."

"It's not an easy situation. I thought Anthony played really good football for us, and he's earned a significant, starting level role. It's one of those through, not around, situations."

A look at every guard who has had at least 10 one-on-one reps vs Jeffrey Simmons since 2024, and how they have fared.
Quenton Nelson has the 2nd-most reps, giving up no sacks and the 2nd-lowest pressure rate.
