The D.C. Council is holding a hearing today on a bill from @AnitaBondsDC that would increase the next mayor's pay to to $290,000 a year, up from the $250,000 that @MayorBowser has been making since 2023. @Janeese4DC tells me she didn't ask for it and will vote against the bill.

Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I am deeply saddened by the passing of former DC Attorney General Irvin B. Nathan.
Irv was a principled and fierce defender of the District of Columbia and fought tirelessly for its residents.
He successfully lifted several federal consent decrees for the District, recovered more than $70 million from companies that failed to pay their taxes, and founded the Ruff Fellowship Program that gives new generations of lawyers the opportunity to start their legal careers at the Office of the Attorney General.
We are forever grateful for Irv’s legacy of leadership and public service.

In an unexpected scene, former D.C. attorney general Karl Racine just spoke at a protest held by tenants of buildings owned by his client, developer Buwa Binitie, who has been sued by the current attorney general over bad housing conditions. Litigation is ongoing.
