🔥Union contracts negotiated in 2023 resulted in an average first-year wage increase off 6.6%, the HIGHEST average pay raise for any year since @bloomberglaw began tracking the number in 1988. When we fight together, it pays off—literally. news.bloomberglaw.com/bloomb…

The first National Women's Day, a precursor to #InternationalWomensDay, was held in 1909 to honor the legendary 1908 Garment Workers' Strike, where women bravely protested poor working conditions, low wages, and sexual harassment. Their fight then is our fight now.
Women are organizing strikes, leading marches, and changing the world. Happy #InternationalWomensDay!

From public education to healthcare, and transportation to emergency services, employers are struggling to recruit and retain workers. The State must make these jobs more attractive by fixing Tier 6 in the 2024-25 State Budget.

Kentucky lawmakers want to take away our lunch and rest breaks at work, as well as eliminate pay protections for time spent traveling to and from a job site during work hours. SB 500 is a dangerous overreach — tell KY lawmakers to vote NO. act.aflcio.org/letters/hb-50…

Solidarity with the @Teamsters Local 997 workers at Molson Coors who are on strike for a fair contract. The working families who make Coors Light, Pabst, Topo Chico, Yuengling, & other national Molson Coors products are worth more than a $1/hour "raise." #NoContractNoBeer

Employers should not be able to hold us hostage in mandatory anti-union meetings. This legislation is critical to protecting worker freedom — Illinois must pass the Worker Freedom of Speech Act & join the likes of New York, Connecticut, Minnesota, Maine, & Oregon. @ILAFLCIO
Illinois could become the sixth state to ban captive audience meetings. Employers use these mandatory meetings in 90% of NLRB elections to pressure employees not to unionize. Sen. @RobertJPeters' new bill would make it illegal to retaliate against employees who don't attend.

One job should be enough! Stadium events like the #SuperBowl are made possible by hospitality workers. That's why the @NFLPA is standing with @Culinary226 @UniteHere to demand Las Vegas's Allegiant Stadium recognizes the stadium workers' union!

This month for Black History Month, we're telling the stories of Black leaders who built the labor movement. These stories are American histories, but are consistently overlooked and overshadowed by white leaders. Let's get into it.

Dr King's spirit of resistance and justice continues to animate our movement, and as we take this day to celebrate and honor his life, we remember also how the fight for economic justice and the fight for racial justice are deeply and necessarily interconnected. #MLKDay2024
