Many extraordinary, life changing inventions have come from 🇦🇺 From the bionic ear to wifi. But they won't keep happening if we don't fund research. Federal research investment has ⬇️ to record lows. This budget is an opportunity to change that. canberratimes.com.au/story/8…

They should have been made in Australia, starting two years ago. They should have been made by CSIRO. They should have been free and available to all Australians. Another momentous failure by the Morrison Government. abc.net.au/news/2022-01-14/a…

Today a Senate report laid bare the Morrison Govt’s lie on labour hire & outsourcing in the APS. It delivers poorer outcomes for the community, costs Govt more and turns secure jobs into insecure ones. Time for the Morrison Govt to step up and act 👇 cpsu.org.au/CPSU/Content/Med…

Labor hire is a disaster for the public service: - it costs more than APS employment, so agencies can hire fewer workers for their salary budget - workers are worse off - high staff turnover as workers seek job security elsewhere, & - erodes PS expertise & experience. #auspol

Another example of the #PrivatisationByStealth of the public service. Ministers don’t want frank and fearless advice from the APS, they want a gun for hire to tell them what they want to hear…this is bad for policy & corrosive of our democracy. #auspol #ausgov

Our public sector science agencies play a critical role measuring the impacts of and responding to the changing climate Not only has the Morrison Govt been slow to act on climate change, they've also cut jobs and funding from the public science agencies that aid our response
