I was an anti-Catholic non-denominational “born again” Christian and got into a debate with a Catholic.
I used the same tired lines – you guys don’t read the Bible, you’re basically pagans for worshipping Mary and the saints, etc.
He challenged me on the topics of apostolic succession, sola scriptura, and Marian prayer.
So I began researching. I needed to understand Catholicism better so I could more effectively debate these fools!
But the more I researched, the more I struggled to find valid arguments against the Catholic faith. I set out to disprove Catholicism, and found myself unable to do so – so much so, that Catholicism became impossible for me to disprove.
I didn’t become Catholic because I wanted to. I became Catholic because the Holy Spirit called me home to the Church Christ founded. It wasn’t up to me. Catholicism is much harder than being a Protestant; I am called to a much higher standard.
It is at times unpleasant. But God calls us to worship Him in the manner in which HE chooses. Worship isn’t about us. Church isn’t about us.
It’s all about Him.
“You should actually start to worship the Bible”
That’s insane for a Christian to say.
No created thing is due worship — not even the most sacred created thing on earth.
The Bible is obviously unique on account of its divine inspiration, but it is not God. To call it divine is to confuse inspiration with incarnation. It is idolatry — the worship of a created object.
Please learn more before spouting this drivel. You are gravely misunderstanding the Christian faith, the Bible, and the nature of God. This is dangerous for your soul.
You should actually start to worship the Bible.
If you did, you would understand that all scripture is INSPIRED.
INSPIRED means God breathed.
Man is not God breathed as scripture is.
Super weird how Catholics are so triggered by this. It's because you hate the scripture. You worship the bureaucracy known as the Roman Catholic Church.
Sad.
A relationship goes both ways.
God gave you your life. Everything good flows from Him. All He asks in return is your love, expressed through worship and obedience.
A vague relationship status is insufficient to that end. You are not giving Him what He is owed.
If you truly want a relationship with Christ you must receive your Lord through the Eucharist, which is the highest form of worship, and this isn’t optional — it is a command (John 6). There is nothing more important that you can do in this life than to receive Him in Holy Communion.
I don’t want to pile on cause I want to be supportive of our guys.
But I think today has made it abundantly clear that this offense is severely limited right now by the QB play, and adjustments must be made to salvage the season. Shanahan and Sunseri need to figure it out.
Hey guys the guy named “Rock” isn’t actually the rock. How did we make such a mistake?
Pack it in, we had a good run. 2000 years down the tube cause we all assumed that Jesus meant what He said. Thankfully it’s all been explained now.

Jesus said on this, not on you. "This" is what Peter said, he called Jesus the Messiah. So if you believe what Jesus literally said then you believe that "on this" what Peter said. Because Jesus didn't say on you. Also two verses down Jesus said, "get behind me Satan" to Peter

Paul literally rebuked Peter in Galatians. Jesus is the rock the church is built on . Peter is NOT the High Priest, King or Savior. Neither is the pope

We’re CATHOLIC we don’t “MANIFEST” we PRAY and GO TO ADORATION and if it doesn’t work WE DRINK ALCOHOL until we need to go to CONFESSION
“When Christ at a symbolic moment was establishing His great society, He chose for its cornerstone neither the brilliant Paul nor the mystic John, but a shuffler, a snob, a coward — in a word, a man. And upon this rock He has built His Church, and the gates of Hell have not prevailed against it.
“All the empires and the kingdoms have failed, because of this inherent and continual weakness, that they were founded by strong men and upon strong men. But this one thing, the historic Christian Church, was founded on a weak man, and for that reason it is indestructible. For no chain is stronger than its weakest link.”

Your spiritual father is the Bishop of Rome, Successor to Saint Peter, and Vicar of Christ, Pope Leo XIV.
Whether you like it or not.

I'm not their "POPE", I'm their Dad. There is nothing wrong with calling your dad, FATHER. A Catholic priest is not my FATHER in ANY SENSE!
Yes it was a bad trade but good Lord, are you kidding me? “One of the most disastrous deals ever”?
The Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson trades are both less than five years old and far worse.
The Trent Richardson trade in 2013 was even worse than this because the dude was unplayable.
It’s not like the cupboard is bare in Indy. Get the quarterback right and this franchise turns around pretty much in an instant. Ballard’s mistake was thinking he’d struck gold in Daniel Jones. The first half of the season last year fooled everyone.

A growing number of Protestant churches are completely unable to provide answers to this. They lack that true worship, worship that is only given onto God, which is the Eucharist.
It’s always the dumbest (or at least the most uneducated) Protestants who fall into the “Catholicism is evil” conspiracy rabbit hole.
The catholic church feels Satanic
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Catholic Church is the largest non-governmental provider of social services and charity.
The CC also created and developed: hospitals, universities, psychiatric hospitals, Asylums, orphanages, community dining halls, leper colonies and public education.

The fact that — on this godforsaken site — all the comments (as of 7pm ET) from Hoosier fans are positive tells you how much this fanbase loves and supports this team no matter what.
We have your back Nick. Kick Michigan’s ass this Saturday!
Protestants can’t claim the Church Fathers so they have to cherry-pick and take them out of context to make arguments that the Fathers themselves rejected.
If you read St John Chrysostom’s other works you’ll quickly find he affirmed images of the saints, and was far from an iconoclast like Mr White here. But Mr White won’t be reading those other works to you, because they don’t affirm his theology.
He only wants to find the narrow examples where the wording aligns just enough with his view to pass it off identical to his own, and then ignore everything else.
It’s dishonest, really. I don’t think you should allow someone who lies like this to be an important influence on your spiritual life.
The difference between this individual observing a Catholic Mass and Dr Scott Hahn observing a Catholic Mass is that Dr Hahn understood what he was observing and recognized the Mass for what it was — the re-presentation of Christ’s sacrifice at Calvary, and the moment Heaven and earth meet for the marriage supper of the Lamb.
Dr Hahn was a Presbyterian minister. Today he is a famous Catholic educator, theologian, and apologist. All because he stepped into the back of a chapel to observe a Mass, and couldn’t help but return again, and again, and again.
I strongly recommend his book The Lamb’s Supper: The Mass as Heaven on Earth. It’s fantastic and delves into the spiritual and scriptural richness of the Mass.
This is how I became Catholic though, to be fair.
When Protestants display their ignorance about Catholicism and are corrected in the replies, people read them.
The lurkers are the target audience. Never forget how important they are. I became Catholic because of people correcting folks like Lizzie, James White, Mike Winger, etc. in the comments.
Don’t stop correcting Protestants. Do so with love (something I need to get better at). Because you can impact someone’s eternity without even realizing it.
Many such cases

I was a Solavangelical Protestant myself. So I set out to impeach the Catholic Church. What I discovered was everything I’d been taught about the Church was almost entirely regurgitated ignorance. There was some malice, sure. Once you know the truth, there’s no going back.
