Eight years ago today, 11 Jewish worshippers were murdered in an act of antisemitic hatred at the Tree of Life synagogue building in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
They had gathered in peace to pray, to worship, and to celebrate their faith. Their lives were stolen simply because they were Jewish.
Today, we remember the 11 innocent lives lost, honor the survivors, and stand alongside a community forever changed by tragedy.
Their memory must strengthen our resolve to confront antisemitism, defend religious freedom, and ensure Jewish Americans can worship without fear.

That means confronting the terrorist organizations responsible, preventing them from rebuilding their capabilities, and ensuring that Israeli families never again face the horrors of that day.
Israel has both the right and the responsibility to protect its citizens, while upholding international law and taking steps to protect innocent civilians.
The world cannot demand that Israel prevent another October 7 while denying it the means to confront those who seek to repeat it.
Never again must mean never again.
