Let’s save the YMCA, sell some real estate, and extend the Terry Fox Trail!
Rise up, St. Catharines. Big Ideas For The City Of St. Catharines Episode 3
Like many of you, I feel the sadness seeing our old YMCA on YMCA Drive empty. With a brand-new $110 million rec facility eyed for Merritton, why look at giant new builds when a solid fix is right here?
Here’s a smarter way forward:
The Math: A $30M reno + carrying costs saves a fortune over a $110M build.
The Space: Move in the Boys & Girls Club and Dunlop Drive Centre for Older Adults, and repurpose underused sites like Russell Avenue Community Centre and Buchanan Hall to offset costs.
The Connection: Link it all with a pedestrian bridge from the Terry Fox Trail over the QEW straight to the YMCA.
Let’s save an iconic landmark and use what we already have.

Finally a needle on the dial moves…
Delighted to see this, and hope the rumours are true. New housing is too expensive to build, and the most immediate thing governments can do is cut taxes on construction, like the PST.
It won't solve everything, but it's a start.

Yup, the market is correcting. With so many vacant units. Why is government doing more?
Is it time for a "City of Niagara"?
We have 126 politicians for 500k people. For context: the entire province of Ontario has 124 for 15M.
Is this local representation or just duplication? Let’s talk Niagara amalgamation. ⬇️

2026 Real Estate Predictions: Boom, Bust, or Balanced?
Everyone’s asking: “What’s next for real estate?” The truth might surprise you—2026 isn’t about extremes. We’re expecting a balanced market:
• Slightly more sales
• Improved inventory
• Stable prices with a gentle nudge up
What buyers and sellers need to know this year:
• What rising inventory means for buyers & sellers
• Why prices will likely stay contained
• Mortgage rate trends & how to prepare
• Why timing your life > timing the market
Bottom line: More listings. Steadier rates.
Better deal flow.
