The Braves have been trapped in the same playoff game since we won the World Series. The home run ball being the only source of offense just doesn’t work unless you’re the Dodgers and paying 12 guys $100m. Pitching was frankly excellent and should have been good enough

The 2023 Georgia Bulldogs had won back-to-back national titles, 29 games in a row, and 41 of its last 42 games before a 27-24 loss in the SEC Championship with Brock Bowers, Ladd McConkey and Amarius Mims injured (all top 34 picks a few months later). Left out of the playoffs.

The Braves needed to add a starting pitcher when it was known they'd be counting on two SPs (Holmes and Lopez) with injury concerns. Now that they know they'll spend time without both Waldrep and Schwellenbach, that need has become a dire necessity.
