Thousands of Canadians to Publicly Witness to Life at 36th annual Life Chain—Media Advisory On Sunday, October 4, thousands of Christians across North America will gather for Life Chain, an annual hour of prayer and peaceful public witness for the preborn whose lives have been snuffed out by abortion. Now in its 36th year in Canada, Life Chain has become one of the country’s largest coordinated pro-life demonstrations. The tradition began in Canada in 1991, when Campaign Life Coalition brought Life Chain north from the United States. This year, Life Chain is expected to take place in approximately 375 communities across Canada. Participants gather at designated intersections to pray quietly and hold signs with messages such as “Abortion Kills Children,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” and “Jesus Forgives and Heals.” “The Canadian pro-life movement silently but boldly confronts our pro-death culture with the pro-life message through Life Chain,” said Josie Luetke, a member of the Life Chain Canada committee. “The mainstream media may studiously ignore this message, but we’ve bypassed them, bringing the truth directly to our neighbours passing by.” There are no speeches or graphic images. For one hour, participants simply stand peacefully, pray, and invite their neighbours to consider the deadly reality of abortion. Almost 5 million preborn children have been erased by abortion since legalization in 1969. She added, “Our reach is unparalleled. On this one day, a considerable segment of our population will be forced to think about abortion and what it actually does.” Last year, more than 15,000 Canadians participated in Life Chain in over 375 locations from coast to coast, including a number of new locations in Quebec. Also last year, a new website was launched, lifechain.ca, to provide a dedicated hub for the event. Luetke said this event is particularly important at a time when it's assumed there's consensus on abortion. “When our country is committed to shrouding this evil in euphemisms and pretending this issue is settled, our visible opposition is critical,” she said. “It is the duty of anyone who would call themselves ‘pro-life’ to bear witness to those convictions.” Life Chain locations and times are posted on the Life Chain website. Event Details What: Life Chain—one hour of prayer and peaceful public witness for the preborn When: Sunday, October 4, 2026, at varying times Where: ~375 communities across Canada (See lifechain.ca for locations)

Why Canada's national pro-life organization, Campaign Life Coalition, will not support the Liberals' new euthanasia bill, C-41. “The government is offering protection for those with mental illness at the expense of those with dementia. It’s literally trading human lives, and it’s simply immoral.” — Jeff Gunnarson, CLC National President @LifeNewsHQ @LiveActionNews @EuthanasiaPC
Liberals unveil silent death act disguised as ‘safeguards’ – Press Release Today the Carney Liberals tabled Bill C-41, legislation that permanently blocks euthanasia (MAiD) for mental illness while simultaneously expanding it through advance requests for people who lose capacity, such as those with dementia. “The bill is referred to as a ‘safeguards act,’ but it would be far more accurate to call it the ‘silent death act,’” said Jeff Gunnarson, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. Under the bill, once an advance request has been made, a practitioner is not required to inform the person what is about to happen or even speak with them before ending their life. The killing procedure may proceed solely on the basis of the earlier request and the practitioner’s assessment that the described symptoms and suffering are present, subject only to a check for what the bill calls “refusal or resistance.” Gunnarson pointed out that euthanasia was first sold to Canadians more than a decade ago with promises of safeguards, one of which was the full and ongoing consent of the participant. “We now see consent being whittled away when it comes to euthanizing sick people,” he said. “Where this slippery slope inevitably leads is euthanasia without consent—a horror that is not without historical precedent.” Gunnarson strongly criticized the proposed legislation for packaging two opposing measures in the same bill: one aimed at saving lives and the other at silently destroying them. “The government is offering protection for those with mental illness at the expense of those with dementia. It’s literally trading human lives, and it’s simply immoral.” Gunnarson said Canadians deserve better than a government that expands death under the guise of safeguards. “This bill raises serious questions about who is really driving this godless policy—ordinary Canadians or the euthanasia lobby,” he said. Campaign Life will not support any bill that promotes or supports the killing of human life.

This article captures the contradiction at the heart of the pro-choice narrative. Mimi Deacon acknowledges that she needed counselling before and after her abortion. If her decision was laden with grief, as she describes, then why would counsellors advise other women to choose abortion? Abortion is failed healthcare. It ends the life of an unborn child and can leave women grieving. How can a system acknowledge that grief while continuing to promote abortion as a solution? True healthcare should offer women compassionate support, life-affirming alternatives and hope—not death. And for women who have experienced abortion, there is hope, healing and compassion. No woman should have to walk that journey alone. tinyurl.com/ap74r6ys

As expected, 🇱🇮 Liechtenstein’s Prince Alois has vetoed a bill that would have legalized abortion on demand up to the end of the first three months of pregnancy. His message is clear: protecting unborn babies and supporting mothers go hand in hand. Women facing difficult pregnancies deserve practical help, compassion, and support before, during, and after pregnancy. 🌎 The world needs more leaders who have the courage to defend life and ensure mothers never have to face an unexpected pregnancy alone. tinyurl.com/unfw2es5

Yes, it's true, a 2024 peer-reviewed 🇨🇦 Canadian study examined 13,777 abortions performed between 15 and 29 weeks in Quebec hospitals from 1989 to 2021. Researchers found that 1,541 — 11.2% — resulted in live births. That's 1,541 babies born alive and left to die. 😢 🙏 What happened to these babies? What care did they receive? Were they given the medical attention they needed to survive? Under Canada’s Criminal Code, a child becomes a human being when completely born alive. The definition may be antiquated, but either the law has teeth or it doesn’t. These babies were scheduled to be aborted, but once born alive, they met the Criminal Code’s definition of a human being. Why isn’t there greater public scrutiny of how they were treated? Were the law’s protections upheld? Were any investigations conducted? And what about fetal homicide? Section 223 of the Criminal Code specifically addresses injuries inflicted before or during birth that cause death after a child is born alive. Have these provisions ever been investigated in cases like these? These vulnerable newborns deserve answers. Their lives matter, and the public deserves transparency.
A 2024 Canadian study of over 13,000 abortions in the second and early third trimesters found that 11% resulted in a live birth. Babies who survive abortion face a dangerous legal gray zone—because most current policies don’t fully address these situations. Poland’s history shows that legal protections for unborn children can be won—and can also be threatened. 🇵🇱 Once known for having some of Europe’s strongest legal safeguards for unborn children, the political tide seems to be shifting, once again. Yesterday (October 20, 2026), Poland’s parliament voted to restore the fetal-abnormality grounds for abortion and to remove criminal penalties for assisting in unlawful abortions. Both bills now face further legislative hurdles and a likely presidential veto. A separate proposal to legalize abortion on request up to 12 weeks is also under consideration. How quickly the political landscape can change! Poland’s history is a reminder that pro-life protections cannot be taken for granted. They require continued vigilance, courageous leadership, and a commitment to defending every human life—regardless of age, disability, or circumstances. tinyurl.com/mvjexed7

Alex Schadenberg of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition (EPC) warns the threat of euthanasia for mental illness, continues. “Euthanasia by advanced request is a dangerous concept as it would permit doctors and nurse practitioners to kill someone who is incompetent, based on an advanced request.” EPC urges the government to follow the June 17, 2026, report of the Special Joint Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying (AMAD), which recommends indefinitely excluding people whose sole underlying medical condition is a mental illness from euthanasia eligibility. tinyurl.com/86myvf34

Exposing "faith hate" and anti-Christian discrimination Hamilton’s mayoral race has brought Rob Cooper’s Christian faith and pro-life convictions into the spotlight. At the October 8 debate, Cooper argued that "faith hate" is a reality and criticism of his faith reflected an underlying discrimination against certain religious groups. Other candidates challenged his positions on abortion and transgender ideology. Some people may disagree on these issues. But a healthy democracy should allow room for respectful disagreement, including when a candidate’s religious convictions inform his public positions. Freedom of conscience and religious belief matters. Only one Hamilton mayoral candidate seems to believe this, and that's Rob Cooper.

What did Rob Cooper actually say? The controversy over Hamilton mayoral candidate Rob Cooper centres on his responses to Campaign Life Coalition’s survey. Cooper identified himself as pro-life and answered YES to acknowledging that human life begins at conception. He'd vote against censorship bylaws that restrict peaceful pro-life expression near abortion facilities. These are clearly stated positions—not hidden beliefs. At the October 8 mayoral debate, Cooper explained that his views are rooted in his Christian faith. Voters in #Hamilton can examine his answers and decide for themselves. But shouldn't candidates be able to express their convictions openly?

Standing by his Christian beliefs. At a Hamilton mayoral debate, Rob Cooper was attacked by several candidates over his Christian faith and his responses to Campaign Life Coalition’s candidate survey. Cooper responded: “As a Christian, this is a choice that I make because of my faith.” His exchange raises an important question: Can candidates openly share their religious/moral convictions even if those views are controversial to some people? Religious freedom includes the freedom to express beliefs that others may disagree with.
