It’s always good fun to be starting the riddling process… 😉🥂🍾🇪🇸 #SparklingWine

Ants are on the move following the rain. I always find it a bit creepy when you see all these winged ants drifting on the breeze… 😉🐜🦟🇪🇸

Although we had a great crop, it has been a difficult year for the #Syrah analytically. Malic acid was respired during the many summer heatwaves, leaving it with only 0.6g/L. Low, but technically microbially unstable and difficult to start MLF… 1/2

I trialed lees stirring to feed the #Laffort B7 Direct bugs during malolactic fermentation and it’s worked, as we are down to 0.1g/L and stable… 2/2 😅🍇🍷🇪🇸

First time trying one of the Prickly Pear #Cactus fruits! They have an incredible amount of seeds in them which are quite unpalatable, but if you strain the pulp it tastes nice and sweet and similar to melon… 😋🌵🍉🇪🇸

With a few days of rain on the way, it seemed like a nice day for a clear up with a slow cooker… 😉🔥🇪🇸 #olives

There’s a few Goldfinch nests coming down with the olives. Good job they’ve packed their bags and moved on long ago… 😉🐣🫒🇪🇸

A bit of a foggy start to the day, and a plethora of Slippery Jack #mushrooms (Suillus luteus) on the morning walk… 😉🍄‍🟫🇪🇸

Good to get all the demijohns racked off the bentonite today; micro-ferments are a lot of work! Considering the tough season the grapes had, the aromas are amazing. Not keen on dark rosés, but there’s no denying it makes the fruit really punchy… 😉🍷🇪🇸 #wine

Oops! Just remembered I have a bunch of #wine that needs racking off the bentonite. Always amazed at how many K/bitartrate crystals stick to the side of the tank. Bit of elbow grease scrubs it off! Twelve more demijohns to go… 😳🍷🇪🇸

Day Two, and a wind-free day means we’re not having to peg the nets down. It’s a great view from here, but an iPhone doesn’t do it justice. 400 Kg’s picked, so still a long way to go yet… 😉🫒🇪🇸 #OliveOil

Day one of #harvest and it’s a bit of a breezy one, to the point where we’re having to peg down the nets. Let’s hope it’s not the shape of things to come… 😉🫒🌪️🇪🇸 #OliveOil

A walk around the terraces planning the strategy, as a call from Santi means the mill might be opening early this year. Just awaiting confirmation before we crack on with harvesting… 😉🫒🇪🇸 #OliveOil

A legacy of the previous owner; spring #onions are planted randomly across the almond terraces. They’ve started to sprout after the recent rains, and when cultivated they actually produce a decent bulb. Quite a strong flavour though so I just leave them where they are… 😉🌱🧅🇪🇸

Good to see the #tractor back on home soil with a new clutch and crankshaft seal along with a few other repairs completed. I never get used to garages returning your old parts (although they are yours after all) as if to prove the work was done… 😉🚜🫶🇪🇸

Clear skies and abandoned #almonds along the early morning walk… 😉📷🇪🇸
