Residents living near the AGC Chemicals manufacturing plant in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire, have reportedly been found to have elevated levels of a cancer-causing “forever chemical” (PFAS) in their blood.
My heartfelt thoughts are with the residents of Thornton-Cleveleys and the wider Lancashire community affected by these findings and the concerns surrounding potential PFAS exposure.
For anyone affected, or worried about what these findings may mean for their health and cancer risk, access to clear, evidence-based information and appropriate medical advice is essential.

Are we safe if doctors across the country feel like they can't raise patient safety concerns? @PaulBrandITV & @DrRaviJ explore speaking up within the NHS and the dangers that a culture of silence could create for the country. “After Lucy Letby: Silence on the Wards?” airs tonight, at 8:30pm on ITV1. #itvtonight @PaulBrandITV @ITV

We are over the moon that patients have once again rated @CCCNHS one of the best hospitals nationally - and THE BEST cancer hospital - in the @CareQualityComm National Inpatient Survey. Thank you to everyone who took part!

Rishi Sunak told MPs today NHS workforce plan is fully funded. It is not.
Govt has committed £2.4bn only for expansion of training places & costs for first 5 years. It doesn't cover costs over later years or the massive increase in salaries for new staff = many billions. #PMQs

NHS Leaders are unconvincing with their version of the state of #CancerCare. It is enormously disappointing that @NHSE does not fully grasp the severity of the crisis. @AmandaPritchard - please see our @ACPUK @RCR @BOPA @UKONS letter to SOS. Happy to have discussions.

95% of doctors in the UK believed the current staff shortages presented "a significant threat. "watching patients get suboptimal care is exhausting and watching colleagues stretched beyond belief is upsetting". medscape.co.uk/viewarticle/c…

UK oncology departments are facing a critical lack of capacity to deliver systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT) to patients.
That's why we, along with @ACPUK, @BOPACommittee and @UKONSmember, have written to @SteveBarclay outlining the challenge and requesting to meet.

I genuinely don't understand why so little attention is paid to #cancer deaths.
1000s of people worldwide are killed by cancer every single day.
It's a crisis, or at least it should be.
I'm 38 & #DyingForACure. Lots of the people dying are even younger.
We need change.

If junior doctors vote to strike (many think it inevitable) @TheBMA says they will walk out for 72 hours and will include emergency care - this is a significant move that will put huge strain on NHS services. Consultants will cover, but marks a major escalation in pay disputes.
