I'm not running for office. But if I were, these are some of the lessons I'd take away from what happened in NY yesterday. 1. Authenticity is measurable. Voters can smell a focus group from a mile away. 2. Endorsements from the current Democratic leadership now read like warnings. The establishment wing of the party is no longer a sword. It's a question mark. 3. Conviction beats caution. The candidates who said hard things about rent, about who pays for what, about Gaza, they won. The triangulators lost. 4. Cost of living is everything. Everything else is wallpaper. 5. The middle is not a strategy. It's an empty room. Voters reached past the establishment to grab someone who actually believes something. 6. Don't fear the base. Court it. The Democrats who ran from their own voters lost. The ones who ran toward them won. 7. If you want to lead a party you have to be willing to fight inside it. Mamdani didn't ask permission. He took the field. The lesson under the lessons: the country is tired of being managed. People want to be led.

Massie: Why am I hopeful right now? We have the younger demographic. You are patriots and you will inherit the country. You will make it better and I am hopeful because of it. We started out as an election and it turned into a movement. There is a yearning in this country for somebody who votes for principles of her party

Mallory McMorrow: Public support for Medicare for All just isn't there yet. Also Mallory McMorrow: Sure everyone hates Israel, but running a campaign based on what's popular isn't how you win in Michigan. 🥴🤡🥴🤡

🎶 Iran-linked accounts are circulating a new LEGO-style propaganda video portraying U.S. and Israeli leaders as corrupt elites tied to the “Epstein files,” part of a broader online campaign aimed at undermining support for the war. The animation depicts President Donald Trump as an “orange pig” controlled by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, depicting the entire war as a project to “make Israel Great Again.” The chorus repeats: “Your government is run by pedophiles. They ordered you to die for Israel.”

“She’s worried that she might not have space in the party. She’s worried that a party that has me in the tent is going to not cater to her – it’s going to cater to us.” — Hasan Piker on anti-Trump Republican strategist Sarah Longwell, who has backed Democratic candidates in recent elections and argued on The Bulwark podcast that Democrats should shun Piker, reacting with outsized alarm to some of his standard progressive foreign policy positions.

Over the last eight months, I've sadly had to deal with a certain kind of person. They're in DC, they think they're political geniuses, and they view us up in Maine as a malleable mass to be manipulated, messaged to, and tricked. And their time is over.
