Just came through Heathrow with wife and children. We all have the same last name (Grant) on our passports. Immigration officer engages my children in chit chat then whispers to them “Are these your Mum and Dad?” . Intrusive, insulting and creepy.

Now is the time to act. Even if you’ve written before, contact your MP again. Urge them to vote against this flawed Bill - not just in principle, but because of Parliament’s failure to treat this moral issue with the seriousness it demands. rcdow.org.uk/cardinal/homili…

In addition to objections on principle, this Bill is being rushed through Parliament with minimal scrutiny: no Royal Commission, limited debate, and vital questions left unanswered. Such life-changing legislation demands proper safeguards, care, and democratic process.

As Parliament considers legalising assisted suicide, we as Catholics oppose this change on principle. Every human life is sacred, bearing God-given dignity. This Bill elevates individual autonomy at the cost of that shared truth. rcdow.org.uk/cardinal/news/a…

On Friday I wrote to Cardinal Bo, to assure him of the prayers of the Catholic community of England and Wales and express our shock and profound sadness following the devastating earthquake that struck Southeast Asia. rcdow.org.uk/cardinal/news/c…

The Lord Chancellor @ShabanaMahmood deserves thanks for challenging the Sentencing Council guidelines for what she rightly calls“differential treatment”of offenders. Legislation is now needed to ensure “fairness for all in our courts.” @HumanRightsCtte @Keir_Starmer Guardian:

Cardinal Vincent Nichols urges you to write to your MP, asking them to vote against the Assisted Suicide Bill. It is essential that MPs ensure legislation is properly scrutinised and does not result in harmful consequences. @CardinalNichols

This is superb from @ddhitchens - on the abuse of language, and the threat to the NHS, from the Assisted Suicide campaign. Orwell could have written this. compactmag.com/email/4518aa5…

This exchange in the committee this morning goes to the heart of the Leadbeater Bill. A new clause, amending the 1946 Act, will change the NHS to the National Health and Assisted Suicide Service. And no, it's not just part of end-of-life care.

How Russia behaves in the coming days will reveal a lot—if not everything. If there are air raid alerts again, if there is renewed military activity in the Black Sea, if Russian manipulations and threats continue—then new measures will need to be taken, specifically against Moscow. Diplomacy must work. And from the Ukrainian side, we are doing everything to make that happen. I thank everyone who is helping. I am grateful to the United States for the constructive and effective work of our teams. Now, results are needed from Russia. We do not trust them. And frankly—the world doesn’t trust Russia. And they must prove that they are truly ready to end the war—ready to stop lying to the world, to @realDonaldTrump, and to America.

It’s deeply disappointing that the Chancellor’s Spring Statement confirms that the aid budget is being cut immediately. When aid budgets are cut, more people die. After the chaos caused by immediate USAID withdrawals, we had hoped the UK could maintain its budget until 2027, to give communities affected longer to prepare. We are praying for all the people hit hardest by this change.

The Times isn’t pulling any punches. Whatever your views about the principle of assisted dying, this is no way to change the law on something so momentous. The dangerously flawed assisted dying legislation should be abandoned thetimes.com/article/e0aac53…

The government, not Kim Leadbeater, has decided to postpone this terrible Bill. Which shows just how much it was a government Bill all along. Some of us will keep fighting to ensure it is never implemented. theguardian.com/society/2025…
