Our Animal Control Officers have a reminder: Rats aren’t the only ones paying the price for rat poison… When rodents ingest poison, it can pass up the food chain, harming the very animals that help keep pests under control. Want to make a bigger impact? ✨ Skip the poison ✨ Secure food sources (yes, even bird feeders) ✨ Keep your yard maintained And if you come across wildlife that’s injured, sick, or abandoned, please don’t handle it. Call Animal Control so trained professionals can help. 📲 512-260-4600 A safer approach helps everyone. Humans and wildlife alike.

🍀CPPD is lucky to serve our amazing community!🍀 Having some green beer today? Go for it. Driving afterward? Hard pass. Please make the smart choice…don’t drink and drive! #StPatricksDay #CelebrateResponsibly #DriveLikeATexan

Today, Williamson County District Court Judge Rick Kennon sentenced Joseph DeSean Taylor for his role in the August 16, 2020 shooting of three Cedar Park Police officers and the subsequent hostage standoff that lasted nearly 18 hours. Taylor was previously found guilty of three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer and two counts of Aggravated Kidnapping. During sentencing, Judge Kennon imposed the following sentences:     •    75 years for each of the three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer     •    10 years for each of the Aggravated Kidnapping counts All sentences will run concurrently. Taylor, now 31, opened fire on responding officers during a call at a Cedar Park residence before barricading himself inside the home with three family members. The incident prompted an extensive, multi-agency response and ended peacefully the following morning. The three Cedar Park Police officers wounded during the incident were:     •    Officer Nik Anderson, a then eight-year veteran, sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm and required multiple surgeries and hospitalization.     •    Officer Jacqueline Quiles, a then four-year veteran, was struck in the rib-cage area. Her ballistic vest stopped the bullet.     •    Officer Cris Hester, a then ten-year veteran, whose head was grazed by a bullet, narrowly avoiding a life-threatening injury. The Cedar Park Police Department would like to thank the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Rangers for their tireless work, as well as all the partner agencies and community members who supported the department throughout this case.
