What bothered me about the Railway thing was not only that the key was in their environment variables, but that rotating it meant waiting on them, and they had already paused the deployments hours before. So you could see the problem and still not do anything about it.
A key that lives in someone else's environment variables storage is a key they can lose for you.

Wherever possible, having self recovering software gates is a blessing in disguise.

Worth noting for the recent Railway compromise is that there were surprisingly many Crypto funds lost. No key sitting on some machine should be allowed to withdraw. A trading connection does not need that. Once it can withdraw capital you are sitting on borrowed time.

The remaining counterparty risk in Sovereign is: Hyperliquid - Trading venue; no way around that AWS - server hosting; HL trade-only api key Our Software - runs on your aws server; interpretes and executes trade logic If AWS or our software fails -> you always control your wallet

If the rules you have only get followed when you are there watching all day then you hardly have a system. Rather you got a second full time job that punishes sleeping, being worn down, living life to it's fullest and anything else that requires your attention.

Why AWS? With AWS Quick Create we can pre-define the full required network and technical setup without us ever having to touch the server that it will create. This allows a clean functional server setup at no technical complexity that works without us accessing anything. 1/8

With AWS we can ensure that it works and we never hold even temporary root like a managed server would. At the same time you do not require any technical expertise to set it up due to Quick Create (one-click setup). 7/8

Lastly, because we don't own or host the server we also don't have to ask for all your personal data and your wife's maiden name ^^ The less data we hold, the less of a pain it is for us too. Max data we need: random username, any mail you can read (proton, proxy, etc) /fin

A big and important part of what we build with our product "Sovereign" is that it runs on your own server, one we don't see, host, or are able to access in any way. The Server setup itself is an easy one-click install via AWS Quick-Create. With that you retain full control.

FTX, Celsius, Genesis. The positions did not fail. Their trades may have been correct. The places holding the positions failed. A Crypto specific risk. This is why it matters to keep self-custody - not just in theory but for real. Only you should be able to move your capital.

Always remember. In this space if anything needs your seed phrase, it is not a product. Rather a theft workflow with a landing page °°.

Randomly saw some website advocating one of their bots/strategy as Trend Following. Winrate was 68%. I don't know what they got but it certainly was not trend following. Though that high winrate is exactly what attracts most people that don't know any better.

We do not dynamically reweight. If your system (the combination of different strategies) has less than 5 independent (economic) bets, the dynamic weighting is what you might wish for after a bad month. Reality is that you would just get a worse month. Equal weights beat dynamic.
