Most expensive pardon in US history. And he still has to kiss Trump's ass for two more years. At least he can move to Russia as a fall back plan, Putin really seems to like him.
Trump really wants a Nobel Prize. Maybe they could create a new category for Nobel Prize in Raping and Pillaging?
WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE
President Trump escalated his invective against Norway, calling it a ‘shit house country’ and saying Norwegian immigrants are not welcome in the United States because the Nobel committee, based in the capital Oslo, has not awarded him a Peace Prize reut.rs/3U1joSt
People don't appreciate how hard engineering is, or equivalently how bad humans are at engineering. Building a system where software can transfer a chunk of data across a bus using a dma engine, without subtle data corrupting races, is a near miraculous achievement.
It raises the age old question of whether billionaires can commit open treason against the most powerful nation in the world and still not be executed.
“In late spring 2020, a source I knew to be reliable called me with a story,” writes Matthew Cole. “The Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner’s phone and monitored him as he accessed a Dubai-based bank account. What was odd, the source said, was that the money in the account—hundreds of millions of dollars—had come from a bank in Azerbaijan. Most importantly, Kushner appeared to have transferred significant amounts of money from the Dubai account to other individuals, including a warlord, a mercenary and a one-time hit man. The story sounded preposterous, I told my source. And yet.
Six months later, I found myself speaking with someone else about the UAE government and their use of mercenaries in conflicts around the Middle East and Africa when I asked, on a whim, whether they knew anything about Kushner and bank transfers from a UAE account. My acquaintance grew quiet. Then they replied, ‘Yes.’” Kushner’s lawyer denied the bank account existed.

Then they came for the Pure Mathematicians, and I did not speak out—because who cares?

Orchestras are so crazy inefficient from a modern perspective. You don't need a dozen musicians all playing the same notes on the same instrument just to get more volume. We have amplifiers now.
Japanese have a phrase "as expected of <person's name>" which I've only seen used in a complimentary sense, to say "good job". I feel if an American used the phrase, it would probably be in the opposite sense.
Once you learn a piece of music well enough, it becomes natural to play through mistakes. You don't even become conscious of making the mistake until a second later, at which point you've already played on to the next part. Unless it irritates you enough to stop and go back.
Electromagnetism obeys CP (charge-parity) symmetry, so asking why magnetic fields obey the right hand rule is exactly the same as asking why electrons have negative charge instead of positive. You could say it's an arbitrary convention but not exactly...
Sometimes in music it's more productive to think less rather than more. You find yourself playing things and only consciously understanding what you've done after you've done it. It's strange to see yourself unconsciously doing things that make sense.
The roadster reveal was fun to watch, at least for the first 2 minutes before Elon started talking. Like a circus show.
Maybe Tesla can make money on the Roadster by performing stunts at monster truck rallies. $TSLA
