INSTITUTIONS DIDN’T AVOID BITCOIN, THEY WAITED FOR INFRASTRUCTURE 🧵 Now that the holidays are over and I’m properly back at work, I finally sat down to read “Why Stacks Is Now Institutional-Grade Bitcoin Infrastructure.” What stood out to me is that this was never about institutions “not believing” in Bitcoin. They’ve always respected it. The issue was infrastructure. Bitcoin was secure, scarce, and trustworthy, but mostly idle. Using it productively meant giving up custody, compliance, or operational comfort. That’s a tradeoff most institutions simply won’t make. What’s changed is that @Stacks now plugs Bitcoin into the same custody providers, exchanges, security platforms, analytics tools, and stablecoin rails institutions already use, but directly on Bitcoin. Here’s why institutions are starting to choose Stacks: 1️⃣ Native, compliant stablecoins (@circle / USDCx) Institutions can move between BTC and dollars on Bitcoin rails using fully backed, compliant USDC, not wrapped assets, not synthetics. 2️⃣ Exchange-grade liquidity (@bitfinex) Deep liquidity, tight spreads, and confidence that large positions can be entered and exited without breaking the market. 3️⃣ Institutional custody (@BitGo) Qualified custody, multisig security, and compliance workflows that match how institutions already manage Bitcoin today, now extended to sBTC and Stacks. 4️⃣ Continuous security (@immunefi) Not one-off audits, but ongoing adversarial testing and live bug bounties, the way institutions actually assess protocol risk. 5️⃣ Seamless wallet operations (@WalletConnect) Stacking and interactions happen inside tools institutions already use, instead of forcing new UX or operational changes. 6️⃣ Professional analytics (@nansen_ai) Funds get real visibility into flows, risk, and protocol health, a non-negotiable requirement before capital is deployed. 7️⃣ Real cross-chain liquidity (@wormhole) Bitcoin liquidity from other ecosystems can move into Stacks, positioning it as a Bitcoin-native liquidity hub without compromising Bitcoin’s principles. The big takeaway for me: This was never a demand problem. It was an infrastructure gap. That gap is now being filled, live, not promised. Do you think this level of infrastructure is what finally brings serious institutional activity on-chain for Bitcoin, or do you still see blockers?

A whole BTC in staking rewards, earned through $stBTC. This is what making Bitcoin productive can look like. 🟢
stBTC has now earned 1 full BTC in Bitcoin Staking rewards on @Stacks.

Bitcoin's next chapter isn't just about holding more BTC. It's about what holders can do with the BTC they already have. 🟧

Moving stablecoin liquidity across ecosystems shouldn't feel like a project of its own. USDC in, USDCx on @Stacks, straight from the app. 🟧
USDC in. USDCx on @Stacks out. All without leaving the app.

Almost the entire Bond 2 capacity came through stBTC. That's a pretty clear sign that liquidity and staking don't have to compete; they can work together. Curious to see what Bond 3 brings. 🟧
483 of the 505 BTC in @Stacks Bitcoin Staking bond 2 came through stBTC. Bond 3 is next. Mint stBTC to get in.

More staking capacity is one thing. Having a liquid asset that lets users put that staked BTC to work elsewhere is another. That's where stBTC becomes important. It connects Bitcoin staking rewards with actual DeFi utility on @Stacks. 🟧
More Bitcoin Staking capacity on @Stacks means more room for stBTC. Deposit BTC, receive stBTC, and earn ~2.2% in BTC every day. Minting is open. 👇

My biggest takeaway from October is how much demand there is for putting Bitcoin to work stBTC becoming the largest asset on the @Stacks Market, 135 Bitcoin Collateral Vaults opened, & the 100 BTC vault filling in 7 hours Zest is building more ways to actually use your Bitcoin

Staking rewards are great, but being able to verify where they come from and how they're distributed matters just as much. $4.5M+ paid out, and now there's a clearer view of the activity behind it. Love this direction from @StackingDao . 🟧
Stacking DAO has paid $4.5M+ in staking rewards. The new analytics page tracks every payout, stBTC bond and signer behind STX and BTC staking on @Stacks.

Your BTC, your own vault on Bitcoin L1, with access to USDC on Ethereum. 👀 @ZestProtocol is exploring a different way to borrow against native BTC without pooling everyone’s collateral together. 🟧
Bitcoin Collateral Vaults don't pool BTC. Each borrower's BTC sits in a single-user vault on Bitcoin.

The beauty of compounding is that you don’t have to chase every reward. With stBTC, Bitcoin Staking rewards automatically roll back into your position daily. More sats, without the extra steps. 🟧 On @Stacks
Bitcoin Staking yield keeps coming in for stBTC holders. BTC rewards on @Stacks auto-compound into stBTC every day.

Institutions won’t want to learn a completely new financial workflow just to use DeFi. And @ZestProtocol fits perfectly as the protocol with an already existing lending and collateral processes with a real advantage.
Institutions have stopped asking how to fit into DeFi. They ask on-chain finance to automate into what they already do. Zest Protocol founder @TychoOnnasch on how Bitcoin Collateral Vaults are built for this shift.

Bitcoin DeFi needs more than ways to earn yield. It needs real credit markets, useful collateral, and strategies that give capital somewhere to go. That’s the bigger picture I see in what @ZestProtocol is building. 🟧

Cycle 145 closed on Stacking DAO. STX yields climbed through the cycle, and stBTC kept earning Bitcoin Staking yield on @Stacks alongside it.

What I like most is that the router doesn’t just look for the cheapest single pool; it checks whether splitting the trade actually gives you a better outcome after fees. This kind of improvement matters especially when trading larger amounts on @Stacks. 🟧
The best swap experience on @Stacks just got better New on Zest Protocol Stacks Swap: large swaps no longer have to squeeze through one pool. Zest Protocol Stacks Swap can split a big trade into multiple swaps that run side by side in one transaction. Here's why that matters. An AMM pool prices every trade off its own reserves. The bigger your order, the further the price moves against you. Split the order across two routes and each pool only takes part of it. Each price moves a shorter distance, so the combined output beats the best single route. On every quote, the router checks hundreds of pools across @bitflow, @ALEXLabBTC and all other DEXes on Stacks. When no direct pool has the best price, a route automatically split the swap over multiple pools for best execution. Zest swap only splits when it pays off after fees. Big trades are where splitting makes the biggest difference. Users see the minimum received before signing, and if the trade can't hit it, the whole swap reverts. Best execution on Stacks, with Zest Protocol Swap.

. @ZestProtocol is showing what borrowing against native BTC can look like in practice. 113 vaults in four weeks, and this is just the beginning. 🟧
Four weeks of Bitcoin Collateral Vaults on mainnet. 113 vaults opened on Bitcoin L1, each borrowing USDC on Ethereum against native BTC.

One thing I like about this update is that you no longer have to wait for a bond window to get into stBTC. There’s another 100 BTC in capacity, and as Bond 2 payouts come in, the yield is expected to catch up to the 2.3% target by early November.👀🟧
Start earning Bitcoin Staking yield on @Stacks today. stBTC deposits no longer require waiting for a bond window.

96% of Bond 2 went through stBTC on @Stacks That tells me liquidity matters just as much as the yield itself. People want their BTC earning rewards, but they also want the freedom to use it across DeFi Now that rewards have started accruing, I’m curious to see how Bond 3 goes
96% of Bitcoin Staking bond 2 on @Stacks was staked through stBTC. The staked BTC just started earning today in BTC and stays liquid across Stacks DeFi.
