COOLING OFF: Did you know used fuel is initially stored in steel-lined concrete pools of water that are about 40 feet deep and provide adequate shielding for anyone near the pool? They are eventually stored on-site at the power plant that generated the used fuel. 📷 : @DominionEnergy

We are saddened to learn of the death of British actor Patrick Stewart. Among his many star-making roles, Stewart led “Star Trek: The Next Generation” as Captain Jean-Luc Picard for seven seasons, frequently returning to the role in films and the 2020 tv series “Star Trek: Picard.” Stewart’s depiction of the iconic Starfleet caption illustrated the range of space science fiction as a device for adventure, imagination, and storytelling. 📸: Poster, "From One Generation . . . To the Next . . . And Beyond,” held in the collection of the National Air and Space Museum

Pegasus outbound from Port Canaveral today. NASA’s 310-ft barge is carrying a Blue Origin New Glenn GS2 upper stage to Stennis Space Center for hot-fire testing on the B-2 stand. Mediterranean Dawn with the 5-6 day tow. Fair winds and following seas! 👍🚀⛴️

Astronaut training means being ready for anything, even a capsule floating in the middle of the Black Sea. But that's just one of many stories you will hear from Space Shuttle astronaut Sandy Magnus on the next episode of Ascending Node, coming soon!

Leo Vulcan 1 (LV-01) payload on the move. LV-01 is the first of 38 Leo missions on @ulalaunch’s heavy-lift Vulcan rocket, and last week, teams successfully transported the 40-satellite payload—encapsulated inside a 70-foot-tall fairing—to the new Amazon Vertical Integration Facility (VIF-A) at Cape Canaveral.

Module 8 is in. This is the last full-size module that gets flown and puts us at over 430’ above sea level. One more module to go on the Vehicle Access Tower. Then on to the umbilical extensions.
