Good news that new deals in francophone West Africa will be worth £330m to British firms. That’s the headline from @UKEF’s fifth West and Central Africa Forum in Conakry, Guinea, where I led the UK delegation last week as trade envoy for Morocco and francophone West Africa. (1/2)

Today marks a major milestone for London.
I’m delighted to see our plans to transform Oxford Street becoming a reality - creating a street fit for the future.

Today, Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP is announcing a major, ambitious package of investment to strengthen Britain's defences against emerging threats, back British innovation, and build our technological independence.
A really good start by the mayor s Violence Reduction Unit. As he says, there's more to do.
One million Londoners reached. Thousands fewer victims of violence.
Our @LDN_VRU is helping turn the tide, with hospital admissions for young people injured in knife assaults down 55% since 2019.
This shows what prevention can achieve, but there’s more to do.

ALT Infographic from the Mayor of London showing that the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) has reached one million Londoners and is helping make London safer. A bar chart compares reductions in hospital admissions of young people for knife assault: London shows a 56% decrease, compared with a 48% decrease in the rest of England. Source: NHS hospital admissions data, comparing the 12 months to July 2026 with 2018/19. The message highlights that knife-assault admissions among young people have fallen faster in London than in the rest of the country.
Covid Inquiry's findings sadly no surprise. As @LBHF Cabinet Member for Health during pandemic, I saw risks posed by untested hospital discharges. We acted against govt policy, closed care homes to untested admissions & established our own testing. Local action helped save lives.
Care homes were an “afterthought” during the pandemic and government failures caused the virus to spread “like wildfire” among vulnerable and elderly people, the public inquiry has found

Plans to regulate private ADHD & autism assessments are welcome but must be beyond reproach. Given her involvement with ADHD360, I urge @DHSCgovuk’s Samantha Jones to recuse herself from this work, as she did over Palantir, to avoid any perception of a conflict of interest. (1/2)

Proud to support this. Gambling harm is a public health issue like alcohol and tobacco, and taxation should reflect the risks posed by the most harmful products.
British membership of the EU would be good for our economy, opportunity & security - it's the swiftest path to growth. So I welcome @andyburnham’s determination to explore every option for closer ties and to have an honest conversation with the country. My remarks in Parliament.
NHS must stop Palantir’s misleading claims. Palantir and its UK executive Lord (Tom) Watson need to stop claiming the company’s NHS software has delivered results. The truth is that nobody knows what impact it has had. (1/4)
After the statistics watchdog stepped in, NHS England now makes clear that its numbers don’t show cause and effect – but the watchdog doesn’t regulate Palantir, which continues to mislead the public. (3/4)
Good to see Sadiq Khan making the case for our country having the closest possible relationship with the EU. Being outside has done us more harm than good.
Andy Burnham is right that ‘hope comes from honesty’.
That’s why Labour must make the case for rejoining the EU ⬇️

For the families who lost loved ones at Grenfell Tower, and for everyone who survived that night, today brings the justice they are owed a step closer. The Metropolitan Police have passed their evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service, and the process remains on track.
@RBKC has been referred to the CPS for possible offences including corporate manslaughter. Prosecutors will decide on charges before the tenth anniversary next June.
For the bereaved and survivors, the wait has been unbearable. Those responsible must answer for what happened.
