I've just established a presence on Bluesky

because Elon has lost his mind. I won't leave Twitter unless I'm forced to, but please follow me on Bluesky, too.
It's a nice, friendly place (usually). I think that most of you would like it,

If you're viewing this on my profile, below this, you'll see little other than IFTTT, Dlvr . it, Feedburner and Twitterfeed powered tweetings of photos in the pool for the Chicago Photography groups on Flickr and DeviantArt.

Toward the top, you'll see a railroad photo, dated 22 May 2024. This was the last photo that could be automatically tweeted, before Elon Musk killed that option.

By no means did the group come to an end in 2024. There were new photos entering the pool all year, and as of the time of this writing, I still have thousands of photos in the queue to look over.
Just a flood.

Above this point - who knows? I'll find a new use for the account. I have some ideas about that and I'll be working on them. Ideas that involve being brave, turning off the computer and meeting people in person.
Imagine that.

I've re-aligned the homepage link and am about to change my display name, slightly, from Chicago Photography to Photography in Chicago.
It's a subtle change, with a real significance.

Instead of just showing you the work of some people in a very specific group, I'm going to travel around the Chicago area, mainly Chicago, visit the galleries and exhibitions, and see what sort of work is on the walls of the venues.

You'll also see some of my own work, such as it is, sooner or later, and the work of some of the people I've met.

As for the groups ... Chicago Photography is, as I said, still alive, both on Flickr and DeviantArt, though dormant on the latter site, because I was locked out of my account there for so long.
I'm going to set up some update microblogs, elsewhere, if possible.

I'm also thinking of creating some new groups that one won't be able to join online. There's a whole, vast city close at hand. People used to find their way into groups by being somewhere and becoming part of something, not just by filling out a form somewhere.

This was part of an ancient practice known as "having a life." I've been curious about that option for a while, and I think I'll look into that, and encourage others to do likewise.
