34-year-old Darius Chappell was repeatedly tased, grabbed by his hair, and bitten by a police K-9 during his arrest in Tennessee. Just days later, he was found unresponsive in his jail cell and died at a hospital. The medical examiner ruled Darius Chappell’s death a HOMICIDE, determining that injuries sustained during his arrest caused his death. When officers take someone into custody, they are in their care! Darius reportedly complained that his condition was worsening before his death. Were those warnings taken seriously? His death demands a FULL accounting of what happened!

She was falling 27,000 feet in a minute in an iced-up jet. In about 35 seconds she declared a mayday, gave her tail number, descent rate, overspeed and a 60-degree bank. That's the job. Then she died with eight other people, and you're grading her tone. Fuck you.
A pilot should not: 🔘become hysterical 🔘speak too quickly to be intelligible 🔘say, "We're going to crash into the ground!" 🔘scream like a little girl 🔘hyperventilate 🔘scream like a little girl again A pilot needs a certain disposition. This is not it. That's the reality.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
"In a two-pilot cockpit, the person talking to air traffic control is typically NOT the person flying the aeroplane." instagram.com/reel/DfNtzvGTY… Nobody knows how they are going to behave in a very distressing & worsening situation, why be judgemental on a situation we all hope we are never in. lifeworksaz.com/counselors-blo…

🚨Innocent Healthcare Worker Held at Gunpoint in Houston Case of Mistaken Identity A medical professional was brutally targeted, misidentified, slammed onto concrete, and held at gunpoint by Houston Police officers only to be released without a single word of apology. They were looking for a suspect related to a car theft. They admitted they misidentified her. She has since been treated at the hospital and is actively seeking legal representation and community assistance. The physical and emotional trauma inflicted by this unwarranted brutality has deeply impacted both her and her family. No one should ever have to fear for their safety while commuting to serve others. We need justice, accountability, and answers. #HoustonPolice #PoliceAccountability #JusticeForHer #MedicalWorkers #CivilRights #HPD 🎥Sedrick Baldwin

It was obvious from the get go that this was a corrupt and disloyal person. Every senior Democrat who elevated her candidacy must be permanently separated from every lever of party influence.
I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today.

“This spring, the U.S. military faced a similar dilemma in the Middle East. According to a Reuters report that cited Pentagon documents, U.S. forces used Starshield to pilot their drones for strikes against Iran. When SpaceX found out, it raised the price for Starshield service in that region from roughly $5,000 per terminal per month to $25,000. The Pentagon agreed to pay. In Ukraine, Musk could be attempting a similar upsell.” theatlantic.com/national-sec…

Since “defund the police” is too scary for some libs how about a push to end qualified immunity? A lot fewer people would even be interested in becoming cops if there were legal consequences for their actions
Greenville, NC: A mother with a baby at home was woken at 3:20 a.m. after a nearby shooting (bullets nearly hit two kids). Police wanted her Ring doorbell footage. She said the camera was dead. Sgt. Jennifer Umphlet threatened to rip it off the wall, get a warrant, and keep her up all night. Officers then entered without a warrant, detained her for “not cooperating,” and (per her account) used her face to unlock and search her phone. Nothing found—she wasn’t a suspect. The actual shooters were later charged without her video. Umphlet was placed on leave; public records later showed she was no longer employed. This is what happens when “can we see your camera?” turns into forced entry and detention of ordinary people.

This is invaluable journalism, and kudos to the AP for doing the hard work to report it out. Could I ask that the media writ large give this the same level of attention as it did the Cheesecake Factory kerfuffle b/c DOD has very clearly hidden this information from the public.
NEW: The AP analyzed months of satellite images and found: - Iran’s 115+ strikes hit more than 2 dozen U.S. bases - caused billions in equipment damage - focused attacks on aircraft hangars and radars, clearing the way for further strikes on warehouses, troop housing and more.

If Haley Stevens was the nominee, and Abdul’s wife was voting for Mike Rogers and had donated tens of thousands of dollars to Susan Collins, I have a sneaking suspicion your response would not have been “Big Tent!”

Auburn PD isn't releasing this guy's name, but we'll get it. Just like we found the six J6 officers. Just like we found Kevin Dave's name Just like we found the names of the cops who smothered Leon Davis Just like we found the cops who knelt on Keenan Pearson's neck.

Police punch Hispanic man already pinned to ground—22 times. Officer had already shot him with taser. "He stiffly hit the ground after being tased, and his head banged on asphalt," said witness. "Cop mounts him and starts beating—later 3 more piled on." Just because man was standing in the road blocking some traffic. Witnesses say he looked like he was having a mental episode—and was not trying to harm anyone. Emergency crews were called and took the man to the hospital. Local police confirmed the incident occurred at 3:15 pm—but released no other details except to say it was "under review." Incident occurred on Auburn Way near 37th Street NE in Auburn, Washington.

I thought I knew rural living. I thought I knew poverty. I mean Louisiana still has homes with outhouses 10 minutes from my house near the bayou. New Mexico is that but at 8,000 feet elevation. It is breathtaking to see such beauty amongst such devastation.

Hey @cspan you are amplifying blatant racist fearmongering. You are no better than OANN or Newsmax right now.
Sen. @tedcruz (R-TX) says that if U.S. Sen. candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D-MI) is elected into the Senate and is placed in the Senate Intelligence Committee, "there is a very real risk that Americans will die as a result."

This is why you apply pressure to and hold politicians accountable even if you support them. It’s your responsibility.
Zohran Mamdani's NYPD walks back $750,000 contract deal with Israeli surveillance company Cognyte after pressure from his supporters “It did not meet the criteria for a sole source procurement, so we are moving to an open, competitive procurement process” (via @NYDailyNews)

ICE deports 10 Cuban refugees—to African country they've never been to. "This is a kidnapping," woman said. "Tricked us saying we were going to Miami—ended up in Africa. Hands & feet shackled entire 25 hour flight. "They hit me, pulled my hair, threw me against plane windows," said another woman. "It was horrible! They forced me down among men." Several women showed marks and bruises on their arms—and swollen feet that made it hard to walk after being shackled. Their passports and phones were confiscated or destroyed by ICE agents. Leaving them without identification or a way to contact anyone. Now worry about being detained by local police in Bangui, Central African Republic—because they have no documents or legal status. Posting first full length, English translated, and credited video here to help raise awareness.

Lina Khan on Mamdani Administration: What we see is an approach to an affordability agenda that has a few key governing principles. One is a willingness to confront powerful interests when it is those powerful interests that are making life unaffordable. And so we’ve seen through the campaign, but also now in their governing approach, a willingness to call out actors, be it real estate interests, be it gig companies, be it Amazon, when these are companies that are either driving up prices or giving workers the short end of the stick. Secondly, a real focus on trying to understand what are the root drivers of the affordability crisis and how do you address it head-on. So this is not as much about one-time checks. This is not about one-time tax breaks. It’s really about how do we address some of the upstream drivers. Sometimes that will be the direct public provisioning of goods. Sometimes that will be addressing market power. Sometimes it will be about actually creating more opportunities for people to organize, be it tenants or workers. Sometimes it’ll be making sure that as you are handing out investments or subsidies, you are actually attaching real conditions to make sure the public is really benefiting, as we saw with the recent quantum deal.

Replying to @ElissaSlotkin
It’s not antisemitic to think that we should spend billions of our own money on our roads and schools and healthcare instead of funding endless bloodshed for Israel while they have free healthcare. Stop lying.

Senator Slotkin, as a constituent of yours and as a citizen of the richest country in the world, I suggest that you stop telling us it’s antisemitic to believe our hard earned taxpayer money should fund our healthcare and schools instead of Israel’s endless bloodshed
This is a divisive stunt that trades on age-old themes of antisemitism. It blames Israel for all the ills in America. Serious people, who want to win in Michigan, are focused on lowering costs and ending President Trump's corruption.

Jeremy Lewin is a rat. He was in my law school section. We all clocked him as a repulsive little sycophant. He didn't dismantle USAID and kill hundreds of thousands because he's a MAGA true-believer, but because he's an ambitious climber. He's genuinely the worst kind of evil.
