Anymore mining will leave little habitat left intact in Treaty #3 to exercise Treaty Rights. Climate change, flooding, winds, forestfires and heatwaves threaten us, animals + fish. We can preserve the forest + waters now. Over centuries its value will be limitless for next gens.
My biggest regret is working for the oil industry. I was an addict. I sold out my teachings and values for money so I could drink every day. The resource industry must end. Including mining. It's destroying lands, waters + increasing the climate crisis. We can be sustainable.

🧡 Survivors deserve to be heard, believed and protected. Speaking with @APTN’s Nation to Nation, @TorontoMet professor @Pam_Palmater makes the case for treating residential school denialism as a hate crime in certain circumstances. Denying or minimizing the harms of residential schools attacks the truths of Survivors, their families and communities, and undermines reconciliation. Survivors should never have to defend the truth of what they endured. The Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation stands with Survivors and their families. Canada must take calls for stronger protections against anti-Indigenous hate seriously. Meaningful reconciliation requires accountability, education and action to confront denialism. Honouring the children who never came home means protecting their stories—and listening to those who survived. A student in my class came up to me at the entry bell & said, “Ms. Korach I like you just the way you are!” This inspired our mental health message today. The kindness challenge of the day was for all of us to say it to 3 people at school or at home!🫶🏻 #StarfishClub

Good work National Chief @chiefcindyafn, First Nations issues are much different then those of the Inuit and Métis. It’s good to see you in your tall bonnet Headdress gifted to you by the Piikani. Elevating the AFN and First Nations in general is essential, as the federal government focussed on its defence and nation building work. We need to ensure that our Treaties are respected. Megwetch!
"This is the first time in 119 years of Crown-First Nations relations that a First Ministers’ Meeting has focused solely on First Nations priorities. This meeting cannot be a one and done." - National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak The National Chief @chiefcindyafn delivered opening remarks today at the historic First Nations-First Ministers’ Meeting (FNFMM), underscoring the importance of the FNFMM in advancing First Nations priorities and a respectful Crown-First Nations relationship.

One of my favorite Milky Way photos from ISS, with the multicolored lights of Southeast Asia streaking across the exposure from orbital velocity, while distant stars remain fixed by my star tracker. The long exposure intensifies the atmospheric airglow into a thick red band!

It’s a good day to be Anishinaabe. It’s a good day to be a Canadian. 🪶 🍁 Miigwech to Prime Minister Carney, Grand Chief Cindy Woodhouse, Chiefs, Leaders, and all the First Ministers, who listened to the shared wisdom and vision for Canada. As our National Chief said, this can’t be a one and done. We must continue building relationships, working together and making Canada stronger for everyone. #AbolishTheIndianAct
