I’ve a theory about why modern dating sucks:
Everyone’s in a hurry. No pacing. Too much access, too soon. Skewed foundations and unnecessary emotional pressure.
We’ve confused constant access with genuine intimacy.
I think the secret to lasting rshps is learning to simply be.
I was in love last week and today we’re no contact. I don’t think people understand how heartbreaking modern dating can be. How do you go from speaking every day, sharing your thoughts, making plans, letting someone become part of your routine and genuinely believing there’s a future together to suddenly having no place in each other’s lives? It’s a strange kind of grief because you’re not just losing a person. You’re losing the conversations you got used to, the little things you looked forward to, the future you quietly started imagining and the version of life where they were still in it. And somehow, you’re expected to accept that someone who felt so familiar just days ago is now someone you aren’t supposed to reach out to. I think one of the saddest parts of modern dating is how quickly you can go from feeling deeply connected to having to teach yourself how to live without someone who was recently part of your every day.
Just concluded V1 of my Content Design Studio website and the copy has me in tears.
I’m such a terrific UX Writer and Strategist.
