A few days after its anniversary, and we still can’t believe it’s been 26 years since we released “Closing Time,” a song that forever changed our lives. Gratitude overflows for all of the incredible souls who shaped the record and have supported us!

Chris Applebaum describes working with Britney Spears on the set of a music video. The music video director says Britney had an unparalleled work ethic, and strived to perfect every shot.

"It's Britney" from IMPACT by Nightline is now streaming on Hulu
She was so hot, so focused, and so possessed with inspiration as a performer I forgot I was directing & failed to yell Cut at the end of one take. To put it in context, Prince had me over to the Purple Mansion in Beverly Hills once where he (and his entire band)…
When people ask me questions like, “what’s your favorite artist you’ve ever worked with?” it’s hard. It’s like asking who’s your favorite child. However, I’ve never witnessed or seen a performance as magnetic or exciting as Britney’s that day.
The shoot ended when her manager put his hand over the camera lens and directed us to stop shooting. That’s why the scene was edited out in the VEVO version. It wasn’t “on-brand” for marketing despite Britney loving it.
The Director’s Cut of “I Love Rock N Roll” by @britneyspears 🍒 I’ve seen other versions out there but this is a snippet of the actual, official Director’s Cut. The issue with this cut was the oil/crawling sequence. Britney really loved it but management didn’t.

Director Chris Applebaum recalls finding Britney Spears sitting on the floor with her legs crossed, her makeup smudged, and in tears during the filming of the Overprotected (The Darkchild Remix) music video.
She held up her Motorola flip phone and said, 'I can't believe it. Look at this.' Then she showed a text from Justin Timberlake that read, 'It's over!!!'
Spears was hesitant to finish filming, but Applebaum says he encouraged her by saying, 'If you don't have it in you, I totally understand... but if you want to go out there and finish this last set-up in the rain, you can show him that he just made the biggest mistake of his life.'
She looked at Applebaum at that moment and said, 'You think so? That's a good idea. I'm going to show him that he let go of the best thing he ever had.'
