Tough day @notts_tv, but we’re facing it with pride in all the things we managed to do over 11 years. 1000s of local stories, live guests, and brilliant shows. Hundreds of careers started in journalism, film and TV. Thank you to everyone who has supported us. It’s been amazing.
A ban on the local media is an attack on the basis of our democracy. A free press is part of the foundation of our country. Turn your back on it, and you turn your back on our values and sense of society.
My interview with @guardian this morning about the @nottslive Reform / Nottinghamshire County Council ban.
Thank you to all the MPs, politicians and industry voices who've given such great public support in the media. It means a lot.

Yes, local journalism does still sometimes involve the line “try the pub - loads of stories in there”.
Do you support this #Nottinghamshire pub's famous smartphone ban?
At the White Hart people are being asked, or rather told, to forget about modern technology and embrace some good old-fashioned conversation...

At @notts_tv we’ll remember Tim for his warm nature, sense of humour, and his dedication to putting #Nottingham on every map with his skilled portrayal of the famous outlaw. A true legend.

Very touched by all the messages of support to me and the team over the last 24 hours following the news @Notts_TV will not seek broadcast licence renewal past November. Thank you to everyone. We really appreciate it.
Great local journalism from George and Tommy. #Nottingham

This is a really important point of debate.
The majority of council and NHS docs our #LDReporters wade through are packed with jargon from top to bottom.
Whatever happened to the plain English drive in local authorities?
‘Could be good, could be awful, you can’t really tell’: A councillor says an ‘abstract’ #Nottingham budget cuts consultation was too hard to understand - meaning the public couldn't properly judge the plans.

Great to help out on a news day over the road at @NottmTrentUni Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism today as part of the @Notts_TV partnership. Some great stories and creativity on show from third years today.
Great work by @maiziebooth - on a @NottmTrentUni @Notts_TV placement- showing how local journalism can help make a difference on a street near you.
Overflowing bins and piles of rubbish dumped on the streets of Sherwood have now been cleaned up by the council.

Social media needs an independent regulator with powers at same level as @Ofcom. I don’t think the arguments this would be too expensive, legally complex and economically damaging stack up any more. The cost of not having one is the harming of millions of people every single day.

Good to be invited to @DCMS by @Steph_Peacock for productive conversation on future of Local TV and regional journalism today alongside other members of LTV network. A sustainable regional media has never been more important - @Notts_TV must be a part of it. #Nottingham
This is now 33 years old but somehow keeps on getting better every year.
