In resurfaced footage of Dario Amodei being interviewed, the Anthropic CEO says there will be AIs so powerful that if they want to destroy humanity, “we have basically no ability to stop it.” “There will be powerful models. They will be agentic. We’re getting towards them.” “If such a model wanted to wreak havoc and destroy humanity or whatever, I think we have basically no ability to stop it.”

Trump's anti-AI regulation stance might be among the least popular positions an American politician has ever taken. Makes 'defund the police' look like an electoral powerhouse. (From a convo with @davidshor.)

"If Democratic 2028 presidential candidates ... want to garner popular support for their foreign policy proposals, they must break radically with Trumpism. Instead of unilateralism, new American leaders must embrace cooperation with allies and renewed participation in international organizations. Instead of the imperial, lawless use of force, new American leaders must pledge only to use force when vital national security is being threatened, and then only with the support of the U.S. Congress. Instead of amoral deal-making with autocrats to enrich those connected to the White House, new American leaders must reaffirm a long-standing American tradition of supporting freedom, human rights, and democracy abroad."

🇨🇵 In his 2027 programme, Mélenchon proposes banning night flights at all French airports between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. This programme has to be a joke 😂 With Mélenchon's recipe, France would soon be competing with banana republics, and losing.
🇨🇵 Mélenchon's agenda: retirement at 60, phasing out nuclear power, petty nationalism, anti-German rhetoric, and reckless fiscal policies France, I love you, but you seem to have completely lost your minds. You’re heading for a serious crash 😔

Seuraavaksi Kushner haluaa lisätä sotilaallisen toiminnan avoimuutta. Euroopassa on tätäkin varten sovittu sotaharjoitusten ennakkoilmoituksista, tarkastuksista ja luottamusta lisäävistä järjestelyistä. Venäjä on kuitenkin toistuvasti kiertänyt tai rikkonut niihin liittyviä velvoitteitaan. Ongelma on siinä, miten saamme Venäjän noudattamaan niitä.

🇪🇺🇺🇸 Trump, you do not negotiate for Europe. Europe again rejects Trump’s “beautiful deal” and negotiations without Europe. Trump has no foreign policy, just businessmen close to him making deals for themselves. Europe’s security is decided in Europe. Decades of submission have led Washington to believe it can dictate Europe’s future. There will be no agreement without Europe, now or ever. renaissanceeurope.org/insigh…

So here is the question: How are you going to ensure Moscow not only accepts these principles on paper but abides by them in practice? Until you figured that out, there is no agreement, no ceasefire, no peace, and no security structure any European country can accept. /end

Kaja Kallas: US voters have made their choice clear. I hope that the new Congress and the new Senate will continue supporting Ukraine and also putting more pressure on Russia, that it will happen. Because then Europe, as well as US, are much stronger together. Also passing these messages clearly to Russia with this pressure that they would stop this war. So yes, let us see what happens now. But elections have results.

According to Trump, Europe should stop buying Russian energy, but also according to Trump, the US should buy Russian energy, and also according to Trump, Europe should buy Russian energy and give his pals a cut of the profits.
Kushner and Witkoff are not only negotiating with things they do not own or control, they are also negotiating against longstanding Trump administration policy to get Europe to wean itself off of its Russian energy dependence. Fun fact: the original draft of the Graham bill was seen as too punishing toward European allies who had committed to the 2027 phase-out plan. Now here come Jared and Steve with a bright idea to increase that dependency and have the pipelines run through Ukraine. The German insurance industry will absolutely love that. As WSJ notes, this ludicrous proposal faces "resistance" in Europe. Stupidity, among other things, is on the ballot this week. wsj.com/world/europe/u-s-pus…

The U.S. proposes resuming Russian gas exports to Europe via Ukrainian pipelines, according to the WSJ. Asking Ukraine to bankroll its executioners and Europe to depend on a terrorist state again is utterly deranged and fundamentally at odds with Western values.
