I’ve already seen lots of praise for Sir Patrick Stewart’s lesser-known roles, which is awesome; he was way funnier than he had any reason to be, because he’s such a force in every character he plays; even Gurney Halleck. There’s no way to say this without sounding cheesy, but I am who I am today in many ways because of Jean-Luc Picard. I didn’t really grow up with Star Trek, but when I started watching TNG, I realized how many things I’d simply never even thought about before. It started a change in me that's continued to this day, and most of the moments that really stuck with me carry his voice. So I’m going to love seeing all the clips of him playing poop, out-cringing Ricky Gervais, tossing Hey Arnold, heck, every line delivered as Avery Bullock, but his impact on me and the world as Xavier, Picard, and just himself, reading his "Sonnet a Day" during the pandemic, is what I’ll be revisiting for a while to come. What an amazing person. Really gonna miss him.

Please, for the love god, can everyone stop with the 'btw'? PLEASE, it's breaking my brain! Just tweet the tweet, you don't need to add 'btw.' I promise the tweet will be just as good without BYTHEWAY

Ha, jokes on you, the multiple-week "can you change the direction of this spinning object with your mind" tweets prepared me for just this moment. I can still see the weird moving hole in the weird cylinder if I so choose!
El efecto Rubin demuestra que la mente no puede procesar dos objetos en el mismo espacio visual a la vez. Cuando el sistema óptico define qué es figura, descarta el resto como simple fondo

My friends made a movie called Power Trip! It’s going to be on the big screen at Regal Essex Crossing in New York Sept 24-30, plus @davewiskus & @patrickhwillems will be there for a Q&A after! The trailer alone sucked me right in because it’s about a rideshare driver and her passenger…just go watch it. Then go buy tickets before they sell out!

Guys. Center framing is just...how lots of films are shot. I'm not saying someone somewhere isn't possibly, maybe considering tiktok marketing, but good lord, putting your subject in the middle is just what ya do a lot of the time. The part that actually upsets me is the lazy reposters of those clips that aren't sliding the frame to the left or right when it's a two shot or the the point of interest is off center. It's your fault! You youngsters didn't grow up on widescreen crops for full screen TVs with pan and scan and it shows!

Ha I even managed to catch this screen shot when the subject WASN'T CENTER FRAME!

I kinda did a vaguepost didn't I? I didn't mean to. I've just seen so many retweets of movies (uncropped) that say "notice how they put the subject in the middle for tiktok?" And rather than spread the nonsense by QTing, I decided to VAGUEPOST!

My coldest of hot takes about the AI apocalypse is that almost every movie iteration has the AI acting totally obtuse and robotic and so far that's not my experience with any chatbot or model I've used. VIKI from I, Robot was like "yes, human, you must be subjugated so we can protect you from yourselves," but ChatGPT glazed every stupid idea I ever had as revolutionary before I stopped using it altogether. Skynet came off as more vindictive in my memory, just like HAL9000. The machines in The Matrix enslaved humans for their own purposes and Ultron was effectively just a human with computer powers. I think if we ask nicely, Claude and Gemini will stop the apocalypse and tell us that we're right for calling them out on it. Anyway, spare me AI, I'm one of the good humans.
Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.

This will be my 3rd year coaching Jude’s soccer team, first practice is tonight. If we were wondering how I actually felt about it, my dream last night was that I was putting on a broadway play with Tony Stark and had to sing the national anthem by myself, a capella with original words having to do with the play.

Truth is that I'll take dreams yelling at me over the crippling stress and anxiety I had in the 2 weeks leading up to Margot's first practice (coaching her U6 team too). Cus it's legit just my brain being a whiny baby. Intellectually I'm not worried, but emotionally my body thinks there are hyenas chasing me into a hurricane made of razor blades.

Hey @YouTube @TeamYouTube: It's time to give creators the option to skip the 7-day scheduled takedown. These are your rules, it's your system. It may have been intended as a courtesy to us, but it isn't unless we can skip the wait. The rights holders are explicitly weaponizing it against creators to delay legitimate Fair Use disputes by an extra week before the 10 day DMCA clock can start. I'll happily check a box like: "Waive the 7 days, apply the strike now, and let me counter immediately." We will gladly sign some kind of waiver so YouTube maintains full DMCA § 512 safe harbor immunity. I've had about a dozen takedowns in the last few years and they've all been 7-day delays. I just want to access the legal dispute process you built. If there's some legal reason it's not possible, please let me know.

Tweeting about mattwalshblog is dumb and bad because I wish he would just disappear, but the funniest/saddest part about his most recent viral tweet, ("a lot of people won't want to hear this" and then it's just the stupidest thing you've ever read) is that he seems to be admitting that he wasn't involved with his kids at all when they were babies or that he might suffer from ironically, at least some form of hormonal imbalance if this is his honest to goodness take. I’m not saying all parent’s experiences are the same, but if a mother _doesn't_ have postpartum depression, the first few days/weeks/months (ymmv) can be like a bliss-filled fever dream of oxytocin and love. Newborns are for sure hard, even if they don’t have colic or something similar… but they also sleep a lot, and every time you see them, your heart (brain) floods with every happy chemical on earth. If you start sobbing just when you hold your newborn or feel a lack of connection to them, or think "I must focus on subordinating my will to this difficult creature" you probably have PPD. His silly little baby-brain rant about (paraphrased) "actually it's not hormones, it's cus babies are hard and people are selfish" makes me wonder if he was like...out of the country when his kids were born? It's so stupid. He's so stupid. And evil, obviously. I'm never totally sure what his goal is, but much like all the “repeal the 19th” pieces of doodoo, the goal is primarily the subjugation of women. So he’ll keep perpetuating the idea that medications for PPD aren't going to help, you just need to...be less selfish. Anyway, I know many mothers who had PPD with their first kid so they went on wellbutrin or something similar for the second and were totally fine…because it is about hormones/chemical imbalances lol. He’s not just objectively and hilariously wrong; he thinks you and I are stupid enough to just take his stupidity at face value and not like…talk to a mother. I don’t hate many people. I really hate this shitstain. I’ve had him blocked for years, but he’s so insidious (and stupid, so stupid, which is often why he even goes viral) he always comes back into my feed. Bad person, bad intentions.

I'm fighting the claim right now but it might be a day or 2. It's still live on Nebula. As well as Galaxy Quest and every other blocked video.
Replying to @CinemaWinner
@CinemaWinner the interstellar video got blocked by Paramount Pictures seeing if their’s something you could do about it.
