I know nothing about aviation, and I hate talking about tragedies. But watching the worst parts of the internet try to tear down a 20-year-old woman is awful.
What I do know is that she tried until the very end to stay calm and communicate with ATC. Even though she probably knew the outlook was grim, she was doing her job to the best of her ability.
She had more presence of mind than most people would in an impossible situation. Certainly more than I would have had.
And I’m sure she was doing everything she could to keep the passengers calm too.
God Bless them and all who passed.

Były turbulencje i oblodzenie.
Więc do wszystkich zwolenników teorii spiskowych, do wszystkich tępaków: z odrzutowca spadającego pionowo z prędkością ponad 500 węzłów, tuż poniżej prędkości dźwięku, nic nie zostanie. Brałem udział w badaniu kilku wypadków wojskowych, gdzie zostawał kawałek skóry i obrączka.
Whiz, bez odbioru.”

This might well rank as the most tone deaf speech ever delivered by a president on the eve of an election. Or maybe the most tone deaf speech a president has ever delivered full stop.

Interesting how your framing and verbiage changed.
You mean the "55-year-old male, lead pilot and captain involved in the tragic crash was identified this morning as Jeff Gregory."
Right, Evan?

Nah keep that energy you had this morning. You were all about trashing the young female copilot and now it's thoughts and prayers for the experienced 55 year old man who was actually flying.
You people are such fucking hypocrites.

A 20-year-old female co-pilot is among the victims of yesterday’s Florida plane crash, and Twitter has already turned her gender into a punchline, her qualifications into a DEI conspiracy, and her existence into evidence of female incompetence.
The misogyny is staggering. The investigation hasn’t even established what happened, yet the verdict is apparently in because a woman was in the cockpit.
Funny how men get the benefit of the doubt, while women have to prove they deserve to be there. This isn’t aviation expertise. It’s sexism dressed up as concern for safety.

The president's lawyers told SCOTUS that there’s a huge emergency and the Court just shrugged and said “nah” without even hearing from the other side.
This is how far this DOJ has fallen under Todd Blanche in the eyes of the courts.

As someone who has sat through roughly 1.2 million WH scheduling meetings, I simply cannot believe that this made the cut on the eve of the election. (Or ever, really.) I know the boss is senile and insane, but this is just breathtakingly bad staff work.

NEW: Trump said he would offer a protective pardon to Elon Musk, who has donated $474 million in this election cycle to Republicans, a historic record by far of trying to buy elections. If you need a reason to stay online and vote, remember this corruption!

"If the pool was finally operating as the administration always hoped it would, it’s not clear the president was," @Kevinliptakcnn reports.
"His speech, billed as his final message to the electorate before a new Congress is chosen this week, was not the high-level contrast with Democrats some Republicans had hoped for. It was instead a subdued, very granular accounting of all the problems Trump said he fixed in the plumbing of the 2,000-foot-long pool, including rusty pipes, old joints, regraded rebar and 'tremendous algae.'"

Trump spoke about the Reflecting Pool for nearly 17 minutes today. He made several misstatements: the damage to the liner was not caused by vandals, Biden didn’t renovate it, Obama didn’t spend $144 million on repairs. This is a two minute edit of Trump’s diatribe.

NOTE: SCOTUS denied DOJ's application about the California election without even asking for us to respond. And it was referred to the full Court. Not a single Justice noted a dissent.
This is unprecedented. DOJ is now being treated like Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani.

This Election Day, you have the power to change the direction of this country. But nothing’s going to change if you don’t vote.
So I want you to reach out to everyone you know. Help your family members make a plan to vote. Drive your neighbors to the polls. Text your friends until they show you their “I Voted” sticker. And if anybody gives you any attitude, tell them Michelle told you to vote!
Your community, your state, and our entire country needs every single one of you to cast a ballot on November 3. We’re counting on you!

Now that the MALE PILOT of the Florida Lear Jet crash has been identified as 55 year old Jeff Gregory, I hope all the unemployed men trolling misogyny-twitter will take their focus away from the female co-pilot.
Seems there is a whole cohort of men eager to jump on anything that feeds their trad wide thesis, or however they are packaging their world view. Sad.

I am absolutely sickened by the horrendous comments directed at this heroic young woman who did her duty to the very end.
She wasn’t even the Pilot in Command (PIC). Her job at that time was handling all the comms. The male pilot at the controls had already realized the graveness of the situation and had started praying as there was nothing either of them could do to save the aircraft.
Do not listen to the cockpit audio of her last minutes, please. It should not even have been made public.
Nathalia Filgueiras did her duty under the absolute worst of circumstances. She relayed factual information right up until impact while shoulder-rolling at 60° bank at 600 MPH. The information will be invaluable in the investigation.
Even as she knew her short but amazing 20 years of life were about to end, she devoted those last seconds to saving future lives by providing critical information to ground control that will inevitably save lives in the future by preventing these types of crashes. The very definition of Heroism. At only 20 years old. 😭💔🕯️
Please keep her, her family and the other crash victims in your prayers. 💔😭😢🙏
