A Maryland sheriff just walked into Congress, stared down Democrats, and said what they never wanted on the record.
Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler of Harford County didn’t come to play nice. He came to accuse his own state’s sanctuary laws of turning Maryland into a safe harbor for criminal illegal aliens — and then he sued to blow those laws apart.
He laid it out cold:
The 287(g) program that lets local jails screen inmates for ICE? Signed into law by Bill Clinton. Expanded under Barack Obama. Both Democrats.
Harford County used it. They checked every inmate.
Now Maryland’s Democratic legislature is trying to BAN the exact same tool.
So Gahler and 17 other Maryland sheriffs — two-thirds of the state’s sheriffs — filed a federal lawsuit to strike down the Community Trust Act as unconstitutional and dangerous.
He told Congress the murders of Kayla Hamilton and Rachel Morin in his own county were 100% preventable if federal immigration law had simply been enforced.
His demand was blunt: Kill these ultra-sanctuary policies before more innocent people die.
This isn’t a press release. This is a sheriff who refused to stand down.

Ciao #papà oggi sono 14 anni che non sei più qui accanto a noi. Il modo più bello per ricordarti, quest’anno, è celebrare - tra pochi giorni - il centenario della tua nascita. È anche rendersi conto, ogni giorno che passa, che resti punto di riferimento ideale non solo per me ma per tanti seguaci ed ammiratori che hai avuto negli anni; ma la sorpresa più bella è scoprire che sei “stella polare” anche per tanti che non ti hanno conosciuto personalmente e per molti giovani che oggi leggono i tuoi articoli e studiano i tuoi libri, imparando che sono sempre le idee che muovono il mondo e che il primato spetta alla politica e non all’economia.
Hai lasciato un’eredità culturale ed intellettuale ad intere generazioni ed a comunità sempre in cammino. Anche per questo mi sento un po’ meno sola, come sento che mi sei accanto in ogni prova ed in ogni sforzo.
