All eyes on $ETH here. Breakout & retest and we go to $3k+ next week. Failed breakout and we go to sub 2k with haste.
The next few days will be very interesting...
Thank god we ripped the band-aid off quickly with this one. Love to see it.
🚨SHOCKING: Hunter Biden’s $LAPTOP memecoin PLUNGED 97.8% within the FIRST HOUR of launch, falling from nearly $200 to $4.36.
Its fully diluted valuation is now around $5 BILLION, but liquidity remains thin:
• Official Aerodrome pool: $83K in USDC
• Uniswap pool: $380K in USDC
The Uniswap liquidity became active only after the token had already fallen more than 90%.
The near-$200 opening price implied a $200 BILLION valuation, but extremely thin liquidity made that figure misleading.
The crypto prop firm model is one of the most predatory business models I've ever seen.
Firms make a fortune because traders fail challenges, lose accounts, pay again, and get stuck repeating the cycle.
@breakoutprop is one of the few firms I’d actually consider credible, but even they still operate inside the same broken structure: thousands of traders need to lose for the economics to work and for funded traders to get paid.
They need to constantly attract new losers to be able to pay funded accounts. The vast majority fail. If they don't, money dries up fast and payouts can't be sustained. The incentives are totally backwards, no matter what they say with their marketing efforts.
We’re working on a radically different model for Opal:
Real live trading accounts and funded accounts don't trade inside a fake simulated environment. Full transparency. If our traders lose, we lose and we ONLY make money if our traders do.
I think we have a shot at revolutionizing one of the most toxic corners of trading. More to come soon...
If you’re a trader with prop firm experience, DM me.
Just onboarded a top 10 Hyperliquid trader to @opal_dex.
If you're a perp trader & looking to trade on a DEX that actually values your opinion, please hit me up.
This has been many months in the making. @base szn has started.
11 months ago we showed people what a fair launch looks like.
Now we'll show them what a good migration and relaunch can look like.
People think these things are complex but it's not hard at all if you're doing the right thing and put your community first.
September 1st 🟦
Please do not interact with any scams out there. We will make this process very simple for current holders & not require any manual action. Stay safe.
Working on this migration to #Base. We're building a path that does not require the wallet to send the Opal token. This is to protect people from scams. All you have to do is hold Opal on your wallet.
will report back on this soon.
We just wrapped up our bug bounty program and submitted our entire codebase to @coinbase for a security review.
You guys did in fact break some things. Thank you. 🫡
come try and steal from us and get rewarded for it! 😏
For the first time ever, production is now public and open for everyone to test: app.opaldex.com
To kick things off, we’re launching a $1,000 bug bounty for anyone who discovers a critical vulnerability capable of draining funds from the protocol and our internal market maker.
During the bug bounty phase, trading limits will remain in place while we continue hardening the system.
Next up:
• Coinbase security review
• Gradual liquidity increases
• Points Dashboard and details on our 4 Seasons of Points
• Launch of our HLP Vault

hey @brian_armstrong, first of all, I love building on base and have always been a supporter of yours. I really appreciated you for spending time with us and the other teams at base batches. It meant a lot to all of us.
But this has honestly really disappointed me & our community. There are countless hard working teams on base, shipping real products and instead of supporting your builders and using this opportunity to give them a shout-out, you decide to shill a useless memecoin and it rugs a day later.
The guy who deployed it and put in an hour of work made out with 200k+ in fees alone. Probably another mil on top of that from dumping supply. GG's to him. But most people lost everything, are very upset and now likely won't support Base in the future.
Please don't cave to the pressure of onchain degens who want to gamble on useless coins that all go to zero & enrich a few lucky insiders. It's not what the industry needs and certainly not what Base needs or should stand for.
The reason we decided to build on Base was because of how you've always supported its builders. This really hurts us.
I like that you're making big changes and I'm excited to see what @cobie does with the Base App. Great decision to put him in charge! But this isn't it.
Really appreciate Jesse's post and the new direction base is taking. Cobie being in charge of the base app is probably the best thing that could have happened.
I agree that competition is good for base but frankly, they are light years ahead of Robinhood.
I've always hated creator coins & memes and think they are an absolute net negative to the space. We live in such a bubble on CT and will never advance and be taken seriously as an industry, if we support extractive social scams. My guess is that Robinhood will soon pay the price for not being discerning in what they're supporting.
We don't need Brian to bullpost memes that all go to zero over time. We just need a few unicorn projects succeeding on base.
We're working hard to make sure @opal_dex is one of them.
The future is bright 🤙
lots of conversations about base over the last week. wanted to share my candid take after a week of listening and a lot of reflection over the last 6 months.
first off - in case it’s not obvious, the first quarter of 2026 was a punch in the face. I spent 2024 and 2025 making a two pronged bet to bring base to the world: (1) builders would unlock the next wave of crypto adoption; (2) adoption would be driven by new onchain-native social experiences - creators, content, messaging. imo we made the right bet on builders, but obviously the wrong bet on social. builders did drive the next wave of crypto adoption - prediction markets, perpetuals, stablecoins - but social was not at the center of it. in fact, the entire social side of the market that many of us had been building towards - farcaster, zora, miniapps, and yes, creator coins - disintegrated completely. I was wrong - whether it was timing wrong (is $ansem a creator coin?) or fully wrong, only time will tell, but regardless, i was definitively wrong.
the collateral damage was pretty bad! and this year has been an exercise in eating shit. we realized how our focus on social had meant that base had fallen behind in key areas that were now increasingly critical - we had perps (shoutout avantis!) and prediction markets (shoutout limitless!), but both were well behind scaled competitors. and we had a lot of room to improve in unlocking base as a platform for tokenization and payments that really worked for enterprises. people lost confidence, and CT spectators reminded me weekly of all of my mistakes as often as they could. it felt bad man, still feels bad.
but if there’s one thing i’ve learned from the last decade of building in this space, it’s that when things feel the worst, the best thing to do is just put your head down and build. so that’s what i’m doing. I refocused my time and attention back to the chain away from the app, started writing code again, shipped a bunch of stuff (azul, beryl, b20, privacy, ledgers) and questioned a bunch of my assumptions: does crypto need social to grow? does base need an app? can base be bigger than coinbase?
I thought for a long time that social was the only thing that could drive the sort of viral growth to get crypto to a billion people. unsurprisingly, I now believe that’s wrong. It’s clear that better money is more than enough - we are seeing this live with stablecoins, predictions, perpetuals, tokenization and i only expect it to accelerate. I am now focused on bringing a billion people onchain just by making global finance actually work.
on the app, my focus is on building base into the blockchain for global finance. to that end, i’ve handed the base app back to the coinbase mothership, where my now good friend @cobie will be taking it from here to make it the best damn app for onchain you’ve ever seen, including expanding beyond the base ecosystem in ways that tbh i won’t love as the leader of base.
it’s incredibly hard to grow a decentralized network inside of a big public corporation. and i feel like much of the discourse on CT over the last week is downstream of this. the following things can be true: (1) base (and i) love memes and (2) brian probably won’t ever bullpost memes on the tl (this activity is illegal once you’re over 40 years of age). it’s weird and we’re working through it as we continue to decentralize base, which has been our commitment from the beginning.
we’re going to build base into the blockchain for global finance and do everything we can to be the place that the world’s money settles over the next century. we will surely have formidable competitors (welcome robinhood and stripe!) and people may abandon our cause, but we welcome the competition and believe it’s our duty to win the respect and commitment of those who rally to our banner.
in 2026, this concretely means three things: winning trading, payments, and agents.
[continued in the reply]
🤙
Welcome to @base, @opal_dex!
Privacy perps are a category we’re very excited about and we’re grateful to have @ClemensCrypto and @kenzanboo building it on Base
The Opal token is launching on @base soon!
The Opal token is moving to @base
When we launched Opal, we deliberately chose Ethereum mainnet. We wanted to see which ecosystem would truly support our long-term vision before committing.
The answer became obvious.
Base is the fastest-growing L2 and extremely performant. On the token side, it has significantly more volume and attention than ETH mainnet. But most importantly for us, it offers its builders by far the best support.
Over the past 7 months, the Base team has been instrumental in helping us bring the first house-blind privacy perpetual DEX to market. From ecosystem support to the ventures team, they’ve consistently gone above and beyond. Going through two Base Batches cohorts was a game changer, and we’d encourage every serious builder to apply to the next one.
Huge thank you to the team at base @jessepollak @davidtsocy @BronheimDaniel @RyanGittleson and @ZacPrater for all your help and support thus far.
This is a move our community has been asking for for months, and we’re excited to finally make it happen.
Existing holders will be migrated 1:1. Team
tokens will remain fully locked and all liquidity will also be moved 1:1. For now, OPAL will continue trading on ETH mainnet as usual and we’ll announce a launch date and more details soon.
On the product side, we're happy to share that production testing is going well so far, and another batch of invites is going out today.
