Baseball is not an equal opportunity sport. The best players play. Especially true for HS level/up. Never met a coach in my 29 years of coaching that was trying to lose. Want more playing time? Get better. So good, in fact, that you are the first name written in lineup each game.

PLAYERS: Be so positive, encouraging, and friendly that even the teammates that tend to complain will want to be around you. Be the example on your team. Enthusiasm can be contagious!

Competitive sports aren’t for everyone. To succeed, you must love the grind and embrace the pressure.

If you're not willing to give solid effort during practice, why even show up? Going through the motions won’t help you improve. The purpose of practice is to improve, not just to show up and say you did it!

How you practice is how you play. If you don’t practice hard, don’t expect to play well in games.

One day you’ll actually miss the grind. You’ll miss working hard to improve and reach your goals. So cherish every practice you have!

Eye contact.
Head nod.
Actively listening.
The greats don’t just “take” coaching, they “crave” coaching.
Take coaching seriously, not personally.

Coaches aren’t in the business of begging players to get in the gym or come to camps, but if you don’t, don’t come later begging for playing time. It doesn’t work that way. Players get playing time by earning it. If you don’t earn it, save yourself the trouble of asking for it!
