Utah has already called on Congress to restore states’ authority to address money in politics.
This Constitution Day, it’s a reminder that the rules of our elections should be decided by voters and elected representatives.

9/11 changed the world—and my family. My son Joe felt called to serve. I felt pride & fear. We were fortunate—he came home from Iraq & Afghanistan. On this 25th anniversary, let's remember those we lost, who served & a generation whose lives were changed.

What a life and legacy. The quote closing the New York Times remembrance sums up Gloria Steinem’s way all her life: “People often ask me if I’m ‘passing the torch.’ I explain that I’m keeping my torch, thank you very much — and I’m using it to light the torches of others.”
American Promise is one of the torches she helped light.
When we began the daunting work of bringing Americans together around a constitutional amendment, Gloria took the time to meet with us and share what she learned from her leadership in all the ups and downs of the Equal Rights Amendment. She understood that the amendment process works when Americans are actively engaged in constitution-level conversation. At American Promise, we’ve tried to incorporate that principle into the way we carry out our mission.
Her life and experience reflect deep faith in the capacity of the American people to handle constitutional debate and to take seriously our awesome power to amend the Constitution when needed.
All of us at American Promise send condolences to Gloria’s friends and family, and gratitude for her example. @usapromise

Just 50 people have already contributed more than $1.6 billion to the 2026 midterm elections.
This spending is legal — but should the donor class and elite interests have this much power to influence our elections?

I think Democrats are overly dismissive of the Republican grassroots anger at money in politics, and are missing the new moment to do something about Citizens United and Buckley.
Tom Barrett, yes that Tom Barrett, introduced a bill a few months ago to overturn Buckley and Citizens United.
Every swing district Republican should be asked if they support it becuase they are HEARING IT from their constituents.
