First job complete for the new V bucket, creating open ditches around the wettest holes. Over 400yds dug out so far, numerous drains uncovered and it’s already filling with water. On top of this we now have three new channels to run our new mole plough into this autumn.

Could this be the start of an actual winter???

Greens renovations today with @KenSiems and his DryJect machines. Such an amazing piece of kit that I’d recommend anyone to try out. 30t of sand blasted straight into the profile. Even with 20mm of rain this week and more during the day the finish was top notch 👌

Installing sumps around some green surrounds this week. It’s easy to see why we struggle so much in the winter 🤦🏻‍♂️ got to 6ft and still solid clay

The best £1800 I’ve ever spent. God knows what it was used for before but it’ll clear clippings and leaves wall to wall it in two passes. Just need to fit caravan mirrors to see behind me, or ask for a bigger tractor 😂

The irrigation system has been primed up since April, although it hasn’t yet been used. It’s the 5th of June… Greens still averaging 33.7% moisture. It’s getting better though as today was the first time I’ve drove around the course and smiled with the conditions 😌

Looking at everyones lovely stripey courses and getting jealous. However in the last two weeks we’ve managed to get the rough down from 8” to 2”. Fairways have been cut with the actual fairway mower for the first time in 6 months, same on the approaches. Time to dial it in now

Can anyone justify a £2000 increase on a car insurance policy? With no claims, no change in circumstances, on an insurance group 12 car that has a 1.5ltr diesel engine. Safe to say @LloydsBank I’d rather scrap the car than renew with you for another year. Day light robbery

Full on Sunday shift getting the fairways cut for what feels like the first time in 78 years.

Closing the course is never popular, but looking at two of the wettest holes @WalsallGC shows why it must be done. Bottom pictures taken February 2021, top pictures taken today. Improved drainage and traffic management giving us a big head start going into spring.

The question isn’t if we’re open or not, but how long will it be closed for??? 😔

Winter projects started early this year @WalsallGC. Hired in a compact trencher for a week with 11 areas around the course to focus on. 8” trench to be filled with gravel and top soil draining away into existing drain lines, open ditches or wood lump sumps. – at West Midlands, England

Not looking too shabby out there considering we were on “carry only” last weekend. Four days solid mowing to turn the place around. Even managed to get 10T of dressing out on the greens yesterday 👍 now just to tackle the drop back in the rough 🤦🏻‍♂️

I knew there was a golf course somewhere hiding underneath all that rain

Any one else getting seriously depressed with this weather now??? My current routine is mow middle of the week when it’s actually dry enough and then watch the grass grow under water for 3/4 days 😔

May not be ideal temps this week but get it in the ground while the sun shines and it’ll pop when it’s ready 🌱

They say there’s a story behind every sign. This is one I’d like to hear 😂
