Due to the low price elasticities and the long investment cycles in the buildings sector, a strong policy mix is needed in addition to carbon pricing. See this and more results in our newest study on #ETS2 and its consequences for the building sector.
Braungardt et al. (@oekoinstitut) find that the EU's new carbon pricing scheme, ETS 2, contributes to the reduction of GHG emissions in buildings in the EU. However, its impact on the EU energy and climate targets for the year 2030 is limited. More➡️bit.ly/4bAjN0D

The @theGCF is the largest multilateral fund set up to finance climate mitigation and adaptation in the Global South. Unfortunately, mobilizing private climate finance for this purpose has proven to be difficult and comes with certain trade offs.
