Right wingers : Muslims stayed back in India, not because of the patriotism they felt that they belonged to the land, but for three other reasons. The first reason they stayed back is necessity (in Punjab and Bengal especially) where they had to move from Hindu majority areas to Muslim majority areas as the provinces were divided. The second reason they stayed back is because of impracticality (Jama Masjid can’t be shifted from Delhi to Lahore). The third reason is because they felt that the land belonged to Islam; and they had to stay for finishing the Islamisation project begun by their predecessors and the Islamic empires in India. None of these three have got anything to do with nationalism.
