Nick Saban asked his team a simple question:
“Do we have show dogs on the team, or do we have hunting dogs?”
Show dogs want to be seen.
Hunting dogs want to win.
The answer tells you everything about your culture. 🏆

Greatness is not given to a chosen few. Greatness is given to the few who choose to do 'more than what's required'.
To be great, you have to give great -great sacrifice, great focus, great discipline, great effort.

You can't want more playing time,
a bigger role, leadership responsibilities
championships, or to play at the next level
If you don't want to work hard, to make sacrifices, to discipline yourself, to be coached, to be held accountable.
Wants come with requirements.

Parents, your son's head coach gets calls from college coaches during the season
When that call comes, the college coach is not asking about stats
He is asking what kind of kid your son is. How he handles adversity. Whether the team respects him. If he shows up every day or just on game nights.
That phone call can open a door or close one

🚨An important reminder! 👇
ALT Graphic warning about scams. Text reads "The UIL will never post about individual games. The UIL does not sell regular season tickets. UIL's social media handle is @uiltexas across Instagram, Facebook and X - all other pages claiming to be UIL are fake. Refer only to official school sources for broadcast and ticket information."

One of the best things you can teach a young player:
You don't need to score to play well.
Defend.
Rebound.
Sprint.
Communicate.
Cut.
Screen.
Make the extra pass.
There are a lot of ways to impact winning.

Being coachable goes beyond "yes sir", "no sir", and nodding your head.
You have to actually make a concentrated effort to DO (or stop doing) what your coach asks you to do.
Which makes sense, you know, because your coach decides how much time you get on the floor 🤷♂️
Eddie Berumen retweeted
One of the quickest ways to diagnose an offense is to track its dribble-to-pass ratio.
Every unnecessary dribble gives the defense time to recover. Every timely pass forces defenders to shift, communicate, and rotate.
Watch the best teams in basketball. The ball rarely sticks.
Ask yourself:
• Are we dribbling because we have an advantage?
• Or because we don’t know what to do next?
Great offense is built on purposeful ball movement... not excessive ball handling.
