Being a JUCO coach brings awareness to things I never saw as a player, parent or high school/travel ball coach. Expectations, development, recruiting, logistics, etc… it’s interesting here.

For a lot of players JUCO is where excuses are dropped and the real development begins.

Coaches, everybody smiling and showing up isn’t safe for the program. Many of them don’t really care about the player—it’s the access they’re hunting. 👀
God, the player, and their families entrusted us with more than their game. Protect the player, even if it costs some relationships.

Made shots, lockdown defense, 30+ minutes are all easy to celebrate. I’m watching who you become when the shots aren’t falling, you miss defensive assignments and your minutes decrease.
Your response to the latter tells me way more than your stat line ever will.
