The Brewers are being celebrated like they invented baseball. They are doing things that have become unusual. They have an old school tough manager who players love playing for. They focus on basic easy to understand basic fundamentals. They have a hitting coach that was an overachieving player for skill that played in the big leagues. They hit the ball the other way. They value putting the ball in play. They adjust their approach based on situation and count. They are not addicted to exit velocity and launch angle bullshit. They bunt and steal bases. They do not have selfish superstars that need to be treated like celebrities. The Brewers simply play the game how it was meant to be played.

Love the HR as much as the next guy… but 10-0 with zero bombs. Two out and two strike hitting clinic!!! Magical… it works!!!! It’s winning baseball and it beats anyone!!!! And the hustle play to beat force at 2B was huge!!!!

This might be the coolest post for my own personal hitting philosophy I’ve ever seen. Some years ago, maybe 2016? I can’t recall what year but I looked at all pitches thrown to RHH. What I found is that the majority of the time the pitch is located middle to middle away. I can’t recall the percentages. So basically middle of plate to outside. Either balls or strikes up or down. But still my point, as in your post, is that if we are playing probabilities, then having a swing path and approach that matches with where the majority of pitches are thrown in a major league game will give you a huge edge. I’d be interested to see what the current era’s pitch location percentages are if anyone wants to look that up for me. All pitches not just one type. @IE_MLB can you make this happen for me?

The Brewers are the ultimate OUTLIER When I was diving in on the game and pitching matchup yesterday I found this. This is a statistic of the average degree of the barrel of the bat at contact point for each team. Everything to the left is pull side contact point. Everything to the right is opposite field contact point. 29 of the 30 teams are to the pull side. There’s just one to the opposite field. The Milwaukee Brewers. This is wild to me. And speaks volumes to their team approach. It means the ball is traveling deeper which has a ripple effect on everything else you’re trying to do as a hitter. It allows you to recognize off speed for a split second longer. Spit on pitches down and away. Keep pitches fair that you’re normally pulling foul. Foul line to foul line approach. The team with the best record in all of baseball is the ONLY team doing something. And they’re not even particularly close to any other teams. That’s pretty eye opening. Also shoutout Twins. Turn and burn, baby.
