It's time we be less quiet about it. The @NAIA is - with 0️⃣ doubt and unapologetically - the place for small college athletics. #TheRightWayToPlay
The NAIA is quietly executing a masterclass in growth: • Enacted a new flexible 5-year eligibility model allowing part-time enrollment and gaps in attendance without penalty. • Snagged 3 new schools and 53 teams from the NCAA in just the 2 months.

NAIA just announced they’re changing to a 5 year rule, but it’s significantly different than the NCAA’s new 5-in-5 rule. Expect this distinction will be raised in NCAA eligibility lawsuits. The NAIA’s new eligibility rule is less susceptible to legal attack than the NCAA’s, because it links the 5th season to academics rather than age. It also doesn’t require all 5 seasons to be played consecutively. Courts have generally given leeway under antitrust law for college sports rules that are tied to academics. Athletes filing antitrust challenges to the NCAA’s version might cite the NAIA’s new, arguing that the NAIA rule is a viable, less restrictive alternative to the NCAA “5 in 5” model- a key factor in the antitrust test. In other words, that college sports can work just fine with a rule that is more flexible. The NCAA would disagree, of course, and might respond that its rule follows a typical academic timeline and better preserves opportunities for incoming HS athletes.

SHOCKING. SENSIBLE. The NAIA says, "The most important part of the term 'student-athlete' is student," and will tie 5th-year eligibility to academic progress rather than age. 5 years of eligibility won't have to be completed simultaneously. The NCAA would never.

FAKE COACH profile. Impersonating a Clarke football coach. What’s the end game here @jimmyscott231? Other than being a complete pile of shit and lying to recruits? Just a bottom dweller of a human being to get kids hopes up and ghost when you can’t deliver. Report his account everyone.

Earlier today the NAIA membership approved adding a fifth year of eligibility, replacing the current four-year limit. To learn more about how this change affects prospective and current NAIA student-athletes, visit NAIA.org/5years #TheRightWaytoPlay

I'm all for the NAIA giving athletes a 5th year of eligibility, but I think there's one rule that needs to change along with it. Here's what I would do to create more opportunities for younger players. Curious what other NAIA athletes and coaches think. Agree or disagree?👇
