⚾ PATIENCE IS PART OF THE RECRUITING PROCESS.
For uncommitted players and families in the 2027 and 2028 classes, here's some perspective.
We took a look at publicly available Perfect Game commitment data and compared where the current classes stand against the final commitment totals from the previous four years (2023–2026).
📊 The results might surprise you.
Class of 2027
🇺🇸 Nationally: 48% of expected commitments still ahead.
📍 Georgia: 66% of expected commitments still ahead.
Class of 2028
🇺🇸 Nationally: 92% of expected commitments still ahead.
📍 Georgia: 95% of expected commitments still ahead.
Every player develops differently, and every college program recruits on its own timeline. Some programs make decisions early, while others continue evaluating and filling roster needs much later in the process.
Just because other players are committing doesn't mean you're running out of time.
It's easy to get caught up in commitment announcements on social media and feel like you're falling behind.
But the historical data tells us that a significant portion of the recruiting process is still ahead.
Be patient. Keep developing. Stay engaged with coaches. Make informed decisions.
The goal isn't to be the first player to commit. It's to find the right college fit.

It’s 10-0 with 2-outs in the top of the 9th and Joey Ortiz hits a routine fly ball to CF. Look at Sal Frelick rounding second…

A scout drove out to a junior college in Missouri to watch him throw, and he walked eight batters in a row.
That is the story everybody tells. Somebody brought it up again this month and he corrected them.
It was nine.
They drafted him anyway. Fourth round, 2018.
Aaron Ashby is from Kansas City, Missouri, out of Park Hill High School. His uncle Andy pitched fourteen seasons in the big leagues and made two All-Star teams.
The Texas Rangers had taken him the year before that, in the 25th round, 764th overall. He turned it down and went back to the junior college.
His first big league appearance was two thirds of an inning and four earned runs.
Two seasons later he went 2 and 10 as a starter. Milwaukee signed him to a five year extension anyway, and then his shoulder went.
Arthroscopic surgery. He lost all of 2023. He says he has never gotten the slider he had in college back, not once, not all the way.
Then 2024 at Triple-A Nashville, a 8.04 ERA across 25 games. That is the number teams look at when they decide somebody is finished.
In August of that year, still in Nashville, he started messing with a knuckle-curve. He was in Milwaukee about a week later.
Last season he put up a 2.16 out of the bullpen. This season he went 13 and 3.
And then October started and he just stopped giving up runs.
Fifteen and two thirds scoreless innings to open this postseason. Five hits. Three walks. Seventeen strikeouts. He has pitched in eight of the Milwaukee Brewers ten playoff games and every single one at home.
He is one out away from the record. Andrew Miller went sixteen scoreless to start the 2016 postseason and nobody has matched it. Ashby passed Goose Gossage and Andy Hawkins to get here.
Pat Murphy watched him get a five out save in Game 2 Saturday and called it Goose Gossage-like.
He is also the first pitcher in the history of the postseason to record at least five outs in six straight appearances without allowing a run in any of them.
The pitch doing it is the curveball he was not supposed to have. Miguel Sano hit the fifth curveball he ever threw in the big leagues over the wall, back in August 2021.
He has thrown 1,045 of them since. Not one has left the yard.
They asked him how he stays that calm with the tying run on second in the ninth.
"It's a lot of breathing."
"Just kind of praying for peace, I guess."
Be straight about where this sits. Milwaukee is up 2-0 but the next three are in Tampa Bay, the Rays won 94 games, and nobody finishes a postseason at 0.00.
But a kid walked nine straight hitters with a scout in the stands, and a week from now he might own the record for the best October any bullpen arm has ever had.

Been seeing more questions about being a dual-sport athlete and the benefits that come with it.
Most conversations focus on the athletic side. But some of the biggest benefits have nothing to do with performance.
3 underrated benefits of playing multiple sports:
1️⃣ Time management. You can’t be a dual-sport athlete without learning to prioritize, plan, and use your time wisely.
2️⃣ Learning from different coaches. Every coach teaches differently. Learning to adapt to different styles prepares athletes for more than sports—it helps them in the workforce, too.
3️⃣ Exposure to different types of people. Baseball players are different from swimmers, who are different from basketball players. Every sport has its own culture, mindset, and personalities. Being around those differences builds perspective and teaches you how to connect with people who think differently.
The benefits of playing multiple sports go well beyond the field, pool, or court.
You’re not just developing an athlete. You’re developing a person. Did I miss anything?? Drop it below!

Let’s go @floydbr28! Big things ahead!
@The_CAAdvantage
Congratulations to 2028 RHP Bryce Floyd from Holy Innocents' Episcopal School on his commitment to the University of Missouri!
One of Georgia's premier arms in the 2028 class, Bryce has earned his place among the state's elite, representing Team Georgia at the PBR Future Games, earning multiple Perfect Game First Team All-American honors, and ranking among the top right-handed pitchers in Georgia.
With a fastball reaching 92 MPH, an impressive breaking ball over 2700 RPMs, Bryce has established himself as a high-level competitor with tremendous upside. His ability to attack hitters and compete against top competition has opened the door to one of college baseball's biggest stages.
Missouri is getting an exciting young arm with the talent and drive to compete in the SEC!
Congratulations to Bryce, his family, and everyone who has been part of his journey. The work continues, and we can't wait to watch what's ahead in Columbia!

Generally the guys that struggle the most with no playing time early in college are the guys who have started most of their lives. Those guys are almost exclusively the 10% of high school seniors who move on and play college baseball! Check out the graphic 👇

📍 Step#5 GEOGRAPHY MATTERS!
“I’ll go anywhere to play college baseball.”
We hear this all the time. But are you REALLY willing to go anywhere?
When building your college target list, geography needs to be part of the conversation.
🏠 Start locally and expand outward. Consider distance from home, travel expenses, weather, campus environment, and family access.
⚾ Understand recruiting geography. A college coach 1,500 miles away may have never heard of you. That doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough. It means you may need to work harder to get on their radar.
📧 Be proactive! The farther you go outside your natural recruiting footprint, the more intentional your communication and exposure may need to be.
The bottom line: Don’t just ask where you’re willing to PLAY college baseball. Ask where you’re willing to LIVE for the next four years.
Rob Rodebaugh CAA retweeted
Want to know if a college baseball program is a great fit for you?
Don’t just talk to their Friday night starter
Talk to the guy who barely pitched his freshman year…because there’s a good chance that will be you
Ask him:
- What does player development look like throughout the year?
- How has the coaching staff helped you improve?
- What’s something you wish you knew before arriving on campus?
Some of the best conversations you can have during the recruiting process are with current players
They can give you a perspective that no campus tour or recruiting presentation ever could

Reality check for athletes and their families: ⚾️
Choosing a college largely to "stay close to home" means you don't understand how scholarship baseball actually works.
The harsh reality of the daily grind:
1️⃣ 6 Days a Week: You are locked into baseball activities almost year-round. Coaches intentionally schedule weekend practices at awkward times to keep guys on campus, focused, and out of trouble.
2️⃣ The Social Shift: Players grow up fast. They quickly want to stay on campus to build chemistry with teammates and dive into their new life.
3️⃣ The Roster Fight: You're competing for a job. Leaving campus for 24–48 hours puts you behind. You won't get your work in at home, and someone else is taking your reps.
Parents: What's the ideal radius you're looking at for schools? 1-3 hours, or completely open to anywhere?
Any families out there having issues getting around the idea of being close to home? Drop your thoughts below 👇

Congratulations to 2027 BHP Roman Fishman on his commitment to Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas!
It's not often you come across a pitcher who can attack hitters from both sides of the mound! At 6'3", 190 pounds, Roman brings a unique combination of versatility, physical projection, and arm talent. With a fastball reaching 89 MPH from the left side, his ability to pitch both right-handed and left-handed creates a challenging matchup for opposing hitters and gives him an exciting ceiling as he continues to develop.
Roman is headed to one of the premier programs in NCAA Division III baseball, joining a Trinity Tigers program with a tradition of national success, including a 2016 National Championship. This is a tremendous opportunity to compete at a high level while continuing his academic and athletic journey.
Congratulations to Roman, his family, coaches, and everyone who has helped him reach this milestone. We're excited to see him take his talents to San Antonio! Go Tigers! @RomanFishman7 @TrinityTigersB2
