“We’re not dealing with that.. we’re running straight at the QB, force him to hand the ball off.” Aint met a single person coaching thus far who’s down with this; it’s all surf, etc. Nah, my edge straight at QB.. all that read ish dead cus once he gets smacked, it’s all handoffs
Clay Matthews explains why the Colin Kaepernick read option was nearly impossible to defend “At that time, defenses were behind the eight ball because what they did, which was great, is when they brought the U tight end or Bruce Miller, the fullback, he would read you.” “If you crash down, he would go around and go up to the linebacker, so they had an extra blocker. And then if you sat there and you took away the quarterback, he hits you out and now you’ve got a lead blocker, and then the quarterback’s the free runner.” “So it wasn’t until the Super Bowl where they basically said, ‘We’re not going to deal with this sifter. We’re going to run straight to the quarterback, force him to handle the point.’ They did a great job with that, but at that time, defenses were in a little bit of a blender.” Delanie Walker: “They started to cut us, before we could cut block them.” Matthews: “Well they let you, that’s when they didn’t have all this safety on the quarterbacks, especially if you faked that you were running, and you could just go and hit them. ”

June Jones tried so hard to get me to get my grades right, and I just couldn’t/wouldn’t listen. He was really for the Polynesian community.

Vernon Davis says Mike Singletary called him out in front of the entire NFL, and says years later he thanked him for it “At the moment, I’d say I was selfish and not selfless because I was young. In my young mind, I’m thinking, ‘Who does this guy think he is? They brought me here to make plays and help this team win. I’m Vernon Davis. Why are you sending me to the locker room? I can help this team win. I don’t need to go to the locker room. Who do you think you are?’ That’s what I’m saying in my mind as a young guy coming into the league.” “But now, as I look back and assess the situation, Coach did me a solid. He did me a favor. Him being there was a blessing in disguise because I needed that. I needed to have that moment of being benched and going to the locker room. I made a boneheaded mistake. I got a penalty. I hit a guy, I believe I hit him under his chin, and Coach benched me. Coach knew me. He’d been there since I got drafted, so he knew how I was. He watched me, and he was just tired of my foolishness, wasting time getting penalized.” “So I go to the locker room. I do exactly what he tells me to do. I didn’t say anything. He came to me and said, ‘Come see me tomorrow.’ I didn’t know he was going to do what he did on television. I was at home lying in bed with my kid’s mom watching TV, and this pops up. I’m like, ‘Wow.’ At the moment, I felt like he threw me under the bus. I was thinking, ‘Why would he do this? Why would he do that? This guy’s crazy.’” “I knew right away that when I walked into that facility tomorrow, I didn’t know what was going to happen. I was furious, but I was also afraid of Coach Mike Singletary because I knew he wasn’t a pushover. He stood up in practice one day and said, ‘I’ll fight all of y’all until I win. You might beat me, but I’m going to get back up. I’m going to keep on fighting.’ Such an old-school guy. But I love that dude. I love that dude, man.” “We had a heart-to-heart, man, and from that day, from that moment, I got it. I knew exactly what he wanted me to do, and I knew what I needed to do for myself. If I wanted to stay on this team and if I wanted to be a leader for my teammates, I had to change my ways. I had to change my attitude. Thankfully, because I had him, I was able to be the player that we saw for the next 11 or 12 years. Because of him and what he did for me. Tough love. Nothing but respect.” “I don’t know verbatim exactly what he said, but it was somewhere along the lines of, ‘Son, you have to change. You can do better. What you did out there, we can’t have that on this team. Son, I know what you can be. You can be great. You can be the best tight end in the NFL, but you’ve got to change.’ From that moment, I started crying. I shook his hand. I said, ‘Okay, Coach. I got you.’” “I love him. He’s like a father figure, a brother. He’s all of that, man. I reached out to him when I was writing this book. I was like, ‘Coach, I’d love to have you do the foreword for this book.’ He said, ‘It’d be an honor.’ I was like, ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’”

Ima ALWAYS be for the players 😤
Terry Robiskie says as an NFL head coach he once received a message from his team's owner telling him not to let a player on his team earn his $300,000 contract bonus for total receptions, and says instead of listening to the owner he deliberately called plays to help that player reach the incentive “Larry Centers was our fullback, and your daddy would always feature him. Your daddy made sure Larry Centers caught six, seven balls a game. He was the best at getting balls in the right hands of the right people.” “I'll never forget it. We were playing Arizona, which was Larry's old team. Larry came to my office, sat down at my desk, and said, ‘Coach, you know, I didn't make that much money this year on my salary. But I need six catches in this game.’” “And Norv would always get him seven, nine catches. He said, ‘I need six catches in this game. If I get those six catches, man, I got a $300,000 bonus.’ And I turned and looked at him. I said, ‘Three hundred? Are you crazy? I don't make but $140,000. I'm the head coach!’” “He said, ‘Coach, man, I gotta get these six catches for this $300,000, man. I'll give you a thousand.’ I said, ‘Okay, good. Give me a thousand!’ But right then, that guy wanted to know, ‘Coach, do you really care about me?’ You know what I mean? And I know that I got a little note from the owner of that team saying, ‘Don't let that guy get them six catches.’” “I threw him seven balls in the first quarter. I made sure he got them. I never got my thousand dollars from him. I gotta get my thousand! But I made sure he had his incentive. And I told the owner, ‘If you don't want him to make that incentive, don't put it in his contract, because I'm the wrong guy.’ I'm the wrong guy.”

And this is the story with my right elbow, left knee, left shoulder, and left ankle. Sucks. OH WELL.
Drew Brees says he now throws footballs left-handed and spent years trying to delay the shoulder deterioration his doctor warned was coming Host: “So you do not throw a football with your right hand anymore?” Brees: “No, honestly, it’s mainly my wrist... If you gave me a ball right now and told me to throw it, hit something 20 yards away, I’d throw it left hand.” “Even when Dr. Andrews fixed this back in ’06, he was like, ‘Look, I put your back together. You should be able to have a career. You’re going to have to battle through this rehab, but you are on a fast track for a degenerative shoulder, just with all the damage.’” “I knew it was going to come at some point. I was just trying to prolong it as long as I could.”

Less is WAY more when it comes to speed guys 💯
Trent taking 1 kick and settling vs Bonitto is such a great way to handle a speed-oriented rusher like this. Rather than letting his get-off speed him up, he sets firm and inside-out. Easier said than done but sometimes less is more in pass pro.

FIRST THINGS FIRST 💯
George Kittle says Christian McCaffrey flew his rehab guy to Cabo for a birthday golf trip, then had everyone waiting to tee off while he got treatment on a massage table “So this past year, for his birthday, it was right after OTAs. He tells me and Juice, ‘Hey, I’m taking some of my high school buddies down to Cabo. Would love for you guys to come down for a couple days. We’re just going to golf and hang out.’” “And we’re sitting there, we’re all ready to go. Everyone’s excited. And Christian is on a massage table getting work done by one of his rehab guys who he flew down to Cabo to get treatment.” “And we’re all just sitting there like, ‘Christian, it’s June 2nd. You’re going to be okay. Get off the table. Let’s go drink some beers. Let’s go golf.’ And then guess what he did? He got off the table and he had an excellent round of golf with the boys.”

Some of y’all are really upset because I have WHITE children in my program. It’s been constant in my DMs etc. And I’m not apologizing for helping a child. You can debate race, privilege and politics all day. I’m dealing with actual children standing in front of me who need guidance, structure, skills and people who care about them. When they walk through my doors, they’re MY boys. They’re going to learn. They’re going to be challenged. They’re going to be corrected. And they’re going to be loved. I’ve had to grow and challenge some of my own prejudices over the years too. But one thing I know now: a child’s skin color will NEVER be my reason for refusing to pour into him.

Tyrann Mathieu says Patrick Peterson helped him pay his rent one month while in college together at LSU, but with a condition, he would work so hard he would never have to ask for help again “I remember I called you. It was like a month before we went to camp. I said, ‘Big bro, I don’t know how I’m going to pay the rent this year.’ “That’s a common story with young players. They think they’ve got money that they don’t necessarily have, so they spend a certain way. It was just a hard lesson. “I remember you came down, you had the Chase envelope in your hand, and you gave me more than what I needed. But I remember what you told me before you walked back inside. You looked me in my eye and said, ‘Bro, this is the last time.’ “That stuck with me like 12 years later. Even though you were hard on me, you made me accountable. You knew what I needed.” Patrick Peterson: “And I’m hard on you, right? But I wanted so much of you, and I knew what it was going to take to get that out of you so you could see it. Because I used to tell you this, when I was growing up, I saw so many guys with crazy athletic ability, but they wasted it. “I didn’t want you to waste what you got. You were special. So therefore, I’m going to give you everything that I can to make you the best player and person that you are. “Going back to when you say I was hard on you, to this day, that’s what my girls tell me. ‘Daddy, you’re so hard on us.’ But then when we have Thanksgiving or Father’s Day, they appreciate it. “That’s my job. I know it may be mundane or you don’t feel like listening to it right now, but that’s my job, to see around the corner before you get there. To guide you through certain things, help you make better decisions, or help you maybe think differently. That’s my job.”

Upkicks suck! Takes away the space AD created with his initial alignment. Throws off the timing of the move. Good change up.
