Tonight, the Empire State Building tower lights will turn to a pink sparkle at 9:25 to honor the late Dolly Parton. Dolly was a global cultural icon whose seven-decade career reached generations of fans. Beyond entertainment, Dolly leaves a significant philanthropic legacy through the Dollywood Foundation and Imagination Library, which has provided hundreds of millions of books to children worldwide. When it’s done, Tormenta Rampaging Run — a new roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas — is set to break six world records. While coasters themselves don’t generally make money, they do attract visitors, who buy food, tickets and merchandise, to the parks, contributing to the $70 billion amusement park industry.

NEW: Six Flags Great America has shared photos of the 14 pieces of replacement track on WHIZZER, the park’s fan-favorite family coaster. WHIZZER is the last remaining “Speedracer” coaster in North America, designed by the legendary Anton Schwarzkopf. The ride is also one of the last remaining opening day attractions at @SFGreat_America. The coaster opened with the park on May 29, 1976. The replacement track was manufactured by a company called Intermountain Lift in Salt Lake City, Utah. Like so many other WHIZZER fans, I’m happy to see the park putting some TLC into this classic! 🎢 🙌
