I have seen some people provide some clarity on aspects of this, but since this is something at the SPC we have been working with for awhile, I wanted to address all aspects of this in one spot.

I'll say it until I'm blue in the face. Mobile/MFG'd homes are the most lethal shelter from a tornado, never mind one of serious strength.
65% of at-home tornado fatalities occur in them.
79% of <EF2 overall tornado fatalities occur in them.

One needs to be careful when citing SRH numbers from a 12z hodograph. Due to inertial oscillations, the low-level winds are supergeostrophic overnight, but become subgeostrophic in the afternoon due to boundary layer mixing, reducing low-level hodograph length.

Here is a sneak leak into some of the more “plain language” that we plan to use to communicate these evolving threats.
The entire scope of this is hard to explain on a X thread or webpage which is why we are pointing people to upcoming training seminars and YouTube videos.

The old 10% Significant hazard outline is being replaced by three intensity levels (two for hail). These thresholds are not tied to a probability. They are our best estimate of what the maximum hazard intensity could be based on expected storm mode and environmental parameters.

This is not true. NWS offices are NOT overstaffed. Every NWS office in the country has several unfilled positions. What she is probably referring to is that staff who were off work were brought in on overtime to aid in the response to active weather, because they're dedicated.

Monday was certainly an adventure. There wasn't much for tornadic storms in SW MN & NW IA. There were a few tornadoes that day, mostly in Wisconsin. We would have been in the right locations had the environmental conditions been favorable for supercell in-out flow balance. #mnwx

From a pure synoptic perspective, today's dryline has a lot going for it w.r.t. convective initiation. It can be tough to get both strong convergence and long parcel residence times along the same dryline.

Given current trends, the potential exists for numerous tornadoes today, including several strong, with some caveats.
